Velvet Night - Velvet Night (1969 US Psychedelic Rock)

NÃO TENHO MUITAS INFORMAÇÕES SOBRE ESTA BANDA A NÃO SER QUE O ALBUM É DE EXTREMA RARIDADE E O SOM QUE OS CARAS FAZIAM ERA PSICODELIA BEM TÍPICA DA ÉPOCA COM ALGUMAS VARIAÇÕES!! PRA QUEM GOSTA DE JEFFERSON AIRPLANE CERTAMENTE VAI GOSTAR DO ESTILO DOS CARAS!!

In 1968 Jimmy Curtiss who headed the 60s group the Hobbits founded his own production company PERCEPTION along with Steve Kanyon. Before he would start his own record label by the same name, he was involved in two groups, The Bag and Velvet Night.

Velvet Night was a six-piece including Frank Chiaro (bass-vocals), Tony Faranda (guitars-vocals), Doug Catuogno (percussion-vocals), Lynn Boccumini (vocals), Vinnie Nisi (keyboards-lead vocals) and Peter Fuino (saxophone-recorder-lead vocals). Besides strangely arranged cover versions of two Tim Hardin songs, a Donovan song, and a Cream medley, there are songs by Curtiss and Kanyon plus one credited to the band's organ player Vinnie Nisi.

The record has a rather weird U.S. underground psychedelic sound, Donovan's "Season Of The Witch" certainly is less menacing than the Vanilla Fudge's version, but still much heavier than the original. The Cream medley is rather strange, and Tim Hardin's "If I Were A Carpenter" sounds spherically esoteric. When Lynn Boccumini sings lead vocals, the band even sounds a bit like Jefferson Airplane.
