REPOST: The Apryl Fool - Apryl Fool (Japanese Psychedelia 1969)

MAIS UMA POSTAGEM DA SÉRIE JAPAS MALUCOS!! ESTA BANDA FOI FORMADA NOS ANOS 60 E FAZIA UMA MISTURA DE HARD-PSYCH-BLUES-ROCK DE PRIMEIRA LINHA!! ESCUTA O QUE OS CARA FIZERAM COM A MÚSICA "PLEDGING MY TIME" DE BOB DYLAN!! MAIS UM BOM VENENO JAPA ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

The Apryl Fool was a very accomplished late-'60s band from Japan whose lone, self-titled album is a great mixture of hard psych and blues-rock. Their best-known track is probably "The Lost Mother Land, Pt. 1," which was featured on the Japanese volume of QDK's Love, Peace and Poetry series, certainly one of the most crazed, over the top productions and performances in the entire series, with its massively phased and treated vocals and general menace.

But that tune is really the anomaly on the album, despite the prevalence of monstrous fuzz guitar on a number of tracks. At their heart, the Apryl Fool seem to be a blues-rock band, although one that was clearly experimenting with the burgeoning psychedelic scene. Tracks like "Another Time," "Honky Tonk Jam," and Bob Dylan's "Pledging My Time" are pretty straight blues-rock, and "April Blues" just adds some fuzz guitar to a boogie-woogie piano bit.

The other tracks up the psych quotient considerably, like on "Tomorrow's Child," with its Farfisa and wicked fuzz leads, or the aforementioned "The Lost Mother Land, Pt. 1." There are additional crazy tape effects on "The Lost Mother Land, Pt. 2." About half the tunes are in English and half in Japanese, but it's all good stuff. Historical footnote: years later, bass player Haruomi Hosono would become a member of one of Japan's most popular music groups ever, Yellow Magic Orchestra.

Haruomi Hosono (Hosono Haruomi, born July 9, 1947 in Minato, Tokyo) is a Japanese popular musician, best known internationally as a member of Yellow Magic Orchestra.

Hosono first came to attention in Japan as the bassplayer of the psychedelic rock band Apryl Fool, who released the album The Apryl Fool in 1969. Members from this band (including Hosono) then formed the influential folk-rock group Happy End. After Happy End disbanded, Hosono worked with a loose association of artists making "exotica"-style music under the title Tin Pan Alley.

In 1978, Hosono formed the Yellow Magic Orchestra with Yukihiro Takahashi and Ryuichi Sakamoto. The Yellow Magic Orchestra (a.k.a. YMO) released a number of albums in the late 70s and early 80s to considerable acclaim both inside and outside Japan. After YMO disbanded in 1984, Hosono released a number of solo albums covering a variety of styles, including film soundtracks, and a variety of electronic ambient albums.

MUDDY WATERS & ROLLING STONES - Sweet Home Chicago [Live Chicago 1981]

GRANDE REGISTRO DE UM GRANDE ENCONTRO!! A QUALIDADE DA GRAVAÇÃO É BOA E O REGISTRO É ANTOLÓGICO!! VALE A PENA UMA CONFERIDA NO QUE FIZERAM O MESTRE E SEUS APRENDIZES!! TEM AINDA A PARTICIPAÇÃO DE BUDDY GUY E JUNIOR WELLS!! VALE LEMBRAR QUE O NOME DA BANDA THE ROLLING STONES FOI INSPIRADO NO NOME DE UMA CANÇÃO DE MUDDY WATERS CHAMADA "ROLLING STONE"!! O NOME FOI USADO EM PÚBLICO PELA PRIMEIRA VEZ OFICIALMENTE NUM SHOW NO MARQUEE CLUB DE LONDRES EM 12 DE JULHO DE 1962!! VALE LEMBRAR AINDA QUE UM DOS PRIMEIROS SINGLES DOS STONES FOI EXATAMENTE UM COVER DE MUDDY WATERS CHAMADA "WANT TO BE LOVED"!!

When Muddy Waters took the stage at the Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago on November 22, 1981 to play a session with members of the Rolling Stones and fellow bluesmen Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Lefty Dizz, no one expected it to become one of his last live concert appearances. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and "fifth Stone" Ian Stewart, staying in Chicago for three concerts on November 23, 24, and 25, were excited to meet their long-time idol, perhaps the greatest bluesman ever and, of course, one of the major influences which led to the formation of the Rolling Stones back in 1962. They even took their band name from one of Waters' songs, "Rolling Stone." The meeting took place in an atmosphere of great anticipation, friendship and respect. Hear Jagger, during "Hoochie Coochie Man," sing the line "...I was born with good luck" and Waters' humorous response to superstar Mick: "...I see that!" ...irresistable! "Time waits for no one" sang the Rolling Stones, whome he had given a part of his unforgettable way of playing the blues. Further proof may be given by three Rolling Stones bonus tracks included in this collection: "I Want to Be Loved" (unreleased studio outtake, IBC Studios, London, March 11, 1963), "I Can't Be Satisfied" (BBC Radio performance on "Top Gear", July 23, 1964) and "I Just Wanna Make Love to You" (live recording, Madrid/Spain, June 17, 1990). We would like to dedicate this record to Muddy "Mississippi" Waters. It was one of his last but definitely not least appearances on stage.

B"Late 1960's band "Smoke" based in Los Angeles, California, Led by John Orvis, who composed all their material, their music can best be described as "psychedelic boogie", epitomized by the nineteen minute M.C. Boogie on the first album and nine minute Greased Lightnin on the second. Loads of energy, jiving vocals, good guitar solos and powerful organ parts. The second album was produced by Jimmie Haskell, one of the best producers/arrangers operating in the California studios in the sixties. Beyer remained in California to play for Smith and Canned Heat and then in Gary Myrick's band. Phil Parker went on to play with the bluesman Shakey Jake Harris."-- Smoke Fan

REPOST: Rock Island - Rock Island (1970 US Hard Rock Prog Blues Psych)

RARIDADE NA ÁREA!! BANDA DE CHICAGO E QUE FAZIA UM SOM COMPOSTO DE ALGUNS INGREDIENTES DO BOM HARD ROCK PSYCH DO INÍCIO DOS ANOS 70 COM FUSÕES ACID ROCK E TOQUES DE BLUES, FOLK E PROGRESSIVO!! EXCELENTE VENENO E UM ALBUM EXTREMAMENTE RARO!!

BiographyChicago's Rock Island were active for a brief period during the late '60s and early '70s, and featured vocalist B.J.Taylor, guitarist Mike Kennedy, keyboardist Bob "Cobb" Bussinger, bassist Tony Curcio, and drummers Frank Schallis and Ray Mancino. Versatile but directionless, the group flirted with everything from Nuggets-style garage rock to trippy psychedelia to bluesy hard rock with proto-progressive tendencies -- generally with derivative and less than inspired results.
This meant that their eponymous 1970 debut also proved to be their last release. Kennedy went on to a long career as session man and, unlikely as it may seem, some small early-'80s recognition with New Wave of British Heavy Metal band Horsepower. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide

REPOST: Virus - Thoughts (1971 German Heavy Blues Rock)

NÃO PASSEM ANTI-VIRUS QUE ESTE É UM VIRUS DO BEM!! VIRUS EM FORMA DE VENENO ALEMÃO DA MAIOR QUALIDADE!! ESTE É O SEGUNDO ALBUM DA BANDA, BEM DIFERENTE DO PRIMEIRO ALBUM "REVELATION" QUE ERA BASICAMENTE PROGRESSIVO E PSICODÉLICO!! THOUGHTS APROXIMA-SE MAIS DE UM HEAVY BLUES ROCK COM PREDOMINÂNCIA DE UM BOM ORGAN!! ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!! É VIRUS QUE DOMINA E COMANDA O CÉREBRO, MAS SEM EFEITOS COLATERAIS!!
Virus were a psychedelic band originating from Bielefeld in Northern Germany. Their music incorporates Pink Floyd's space rock, heavy keyboards somewhat reminiscent of Deep Purple all put together into long songs filled with jams. They released only two albums -- "Revelation" (1970) and "Thoughts" (1971). The album was recorded in Star Studios, Hamburg and produced by Konrad Plank. The Virus lineup for the first album is: Werner Monka (guitar), Jorg-Dieter Krahe (organ), Bernd "Molle" Hohmann (vocals, flute), Reinhold Spiegelfeld (bass) and Wolfgang Rieke (drums).

"Revelation" starts as a straight forward psychedelic track and develops as the song conines forward. Towards the middle of the song comes in a cover of the Rolling Stones song -- Paint It Black. Another homage is found in the second song where at the end you can hear a Saucerful Of Secrets choir bit. This album is very inventive and contains surprises along the different tracks. These songs have long guitar playing parts and exciting organ playing, both demonstrating very good musicianship.

The second album "Thoughts" is a big change from their first one. The lineup change considerably as well, leaving only Krahe and Rieke from the original group. The new members were: Axel Nieling (drums), Jurgen Schafer (bass, vocals), Bernd Rosner (guitar) and Werner Vogt (bass, guitar, vocals). In this album they abandoned their long tracks and space rock and psychedelic nature. This album presents a more mainstream approach with blues rock songs. Therefore this would not be of interest for those looking them for their psychedelic and progressive sound.

In 2004 a 1973 live show was released under the name Remember.

1. King Heroin (5:37)
2. Manking, Where Do You Go? (4:59)
3. Theme (0:23)

REQUEST: Capability Brown - Voice (1973 UK Progressive Rock)

HARMONIA E INSTRUMENTAÇÃO MUITO BOA DESTA BANDA PROGRESSIVA QUE EM CERTOS MOMENTOS DESANDA UM POUCO PRA UM HARD ROCK!! ALBUM RARO DE UMA BANDA OBSCURA DO ROCK SETENTISTA!! ALGUNS MEMBROS ERAM INTEGRANTES DA BOA BANDA CHAMADA "FUZZY DUCK"!! A ULTIMA FAIXA NOS LEVA A VIAJAR POR 20 MINUTOS COM GRANDES HARMONIAS VOCAIS E REGADAS A MELOTRON, FLAUTAS, RIFFS DE GUITAR 12 CORDAS E OUTROS INSTRUMENROS QUE NOS REMETEM INEVITAVELMENTE A UMA PITADA DE FOLK PROGRESSIVO E OUTROS GÊNEROS!! VENENO BOM E RARO!!

Capability Brown was a band of 6 multi-instrumentalists with terrific vocal harmonies who were equally at home with short, snappy, should-have-been-hit pop songs as they were with complex extended pieces. Their skill at vocal arrangements alone should have garnered them success.

Tony Ferguson: vocals, guitar, bass, flute, pedal steel
Dave Nevin: vocals, guitar, bass, mellotron, synthesizer, percussion, vibes
Roger Willis: vocals, drums, piano, harmonica
Grahame White: vocals, guitar, lute, balalaika, keyboards
Kenny Rowe: vocals, bass, percussion
Joe Williams: vocals, percussion

The nucleus of the group had previously recorded several singles for RCA as Harmony Grass, and some members were also in a group called Fuzzy Duck (one LP for MAM Records UK). After their Charisma days, they made two albums as Krazy Kat for Mountain Records. Kenny Rowe had one solo single on Charisma, Jesus/Water Song (CB 219).
Another Charisma connection with Capability Brown was that they covered songs by other Charisma artists, Rare Bird (Sympathy) and Lindisfarne (Wake Up Little Sister). Other covers include songs by Steely Dan (Midnight Cruiser) and Russ Ballard’s Liar, an early Argent track made famous in the US by Three Dog Night.

Their first album From Scratch has never been released on CD, and the second album Voice was available only briefly from Japan in the early 90s and is long out of print.

01 – I Am And So Are You
02 – Sad Am I
03 – Midnite Cruiser
04 – Keep Death Off The Road
