REQUEST: MAY BLITZ – Second of May (1971 UK Heavy Rock Progressive)

E COMO PROMETIDO AQUI ESTÁ A POSTAGEM DO SEGUNDO DISCO DESTA BANDA CHAPANTE!! VENENO PURO E MORTAL!!

The second and final May Blitz album basically picked up where its predecessor left off, with the thunderous and foreboding "For Mad Men Only," and then bludgeoned on from there. Except, where May Blitz concentrated on weight, 2nd of May is more interested in mood and even mirth -- "25th of December 1969" would be almost jovial, if the lyrics weren't so harsh, while the balladic "Just Thinking" closes the album with the sweetest of whispers.

It's a tighter disc than its predecessor. Just two of the eight songs really top five minutes, as the band learned how to cram maximum impact into minimal space, and layered the virtuosity on from there. The helter-skelter blur of "Eight Mad Grim Nits" is as electrifying a guitar workout as you're likely to hear, with the axe panning wildly while the rhythm section soars like a steeplechase behind it; while "High Beech" takes the opposite tack entirely, a psychedelic dream that builds so gently that the effect is almost boleric. "Honey Coloured Time," too, has a gentle mood that puts one in mind of labelmates Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan," as performed by the Full House era Fairport Convention. And, while a lengthy Tony Newman drum solo doesn't really repay repeat listens (well, not unless you like drum solos), still 2nd of May remains one of those albums that you will find yourself returning to again and again, while wishing May Blitz had held on long enough to cut a follow-up.

Great followup to their second. They continue on that same bluesy/psychedelic/hard rock/prog thing like they did on their first album, with extended jams. Again, the lineup is the same with vocalist/guitarist James Black, bassist Reid Hudson, and drummer Tony Newman. "Snakes and Ladders" is an incredible piece, starting off sounding a bit like Hendrix, the vocals especially reminding me of Hendrix, then the second half sounding like how Black Sabbath might have sounded like if they went psychedelic.

I love the bizarre electronic effects added on. "The 25th of December, 1969" is a more light-hearted number with a nice jazzy passage. "In Part" is the album's only real weak spot. Although it starts off actually quite nice, getting in to a nice groove, and even featuring flute, which is the only time you ever hear one on a May Blitz album, the second half of the cut is wasted on a drum solo. "8 Mad Grim Nits" is the band's only instrumental piece, and it really shows off James Black's guitar talent, so unsurprisingly it's his turn to shine here. "High Beech" is a nice psychedelic piece complete with reverbed guitar and some hippie-oriented lyrics. "Just Thinking" starts off really mellow, but I like the way it ends in this wonderful psychedelic climax, with some more hippie-type lyrics.

Unlike their first album they don't write songs about getting stoned ("Smoking the Day Away") or going back to the country ("I Don't Know"). But they still recorded a wonderful followup to their self-entitled debut. But of course this would be their final album. The two Canadian guys (James Black, Reid Hudson) would return to British Columbia (apparently to disappear from the music scene), and Tony Newman would find himself with other acts like Three Man Army.

REQUEST: MAY BLITZ – May Blitz (1970 UK Heavy Rock Progressive)

CONFORME DEFINIU UM COLEGA MEU NUMA VIAGEM DE CARRO QUE FIZEMOS E EU COLOQUEI ESTE DISCO PRA ESCUTAR: "ISSO É MÚSICA DE MACONHEIRO"!! MAY BLITZ! QUE BANDA! QUE SOM CHAPANTE! É MUITO BOM MESMO!! POWER TRIO DE PRIMEIRA QUALIDADE!! VENENO DO BÃO!! TANTO QUE COLOCO ESTE QUE É O PRIMEIRO DA BANDA E MAIS O SEGUNDO ALBUM LOGO A SEGUIR!!

1) May Blitz (alongside Rory Gallagher's Taste) were among the first of the newly formed hard rock power trios to take up the challenge of Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience; that is, making the biggest possible noise with the smallest available lineup, but never losing sight of melody and finesse while they did so. Certainly anyone catching their early live show was guaranteed to leave with their ears ringing but their brainbox humming, and the band's debut album was a seamless reiteration of their in-concert impact, all the way down to the extended riffing and miniature solos.
May Blitz's strongest point, in terms of audience recognition, was drummer Tony Newman, and fans of the jazz-inflected style that he injected into the Jeff Beck Group certainly won't be disappointed by what they find here -- indeed, with guitarist James Black beside him, it's not difficult to compare May Blitz to the Beck band's Beck-Ola, and find the better-known disc come up wanting every time. The epic "Smoking the Day Away" kicks things off in dynamic form, laying down the grinding, almost proto-metallic assault that was May Blitz's raison d'etre; later in the set, "Dreaming," "Virgin Waters," and "Squeet" all howl with a vengeance that might sound a little old-fashioned today, but was breathtakingly fresh at the time. Even better is "Fire Queen," which essentially blueprints the best parts of every metal act from Judas Priest to the Cult, except it doesn't hang around long enough to spoil the effect. Rather like May Blitz themselves, in fact.

2) The band consisted of ex-Jeff Beck Group drummer Tony Newman, with two Canadian guys (residing in England at the time), bassist Reid Hudson and guitarist/vocalist James Black. This is what I call a power trio, sticking to bluesy hard rock, with some psych and prog rock thrown in. A lot of times the music reminds me of the Jimi Hendrix experience, thanks to Hendrix-like guitars, but often the band meanders in to some intense, mindblowing jams. Plus the lyrics often tend to be hippie oriented, such as the drug-oriented "Smoking the Day Away", the back to the land theme of "I Don't Know?" or the psychedelic "Tomorrow May Come".
Another favorite of mine is "Squeet" with some rather crude lyrics. Another worth mentioning is "Fire Queen". It sounds a whole lot like The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Replace the Hammond organ with guitars and you get an idea how that song is like. Amazing stuff, and if you like bluesy hard rock, or collect Swirl Vertigo label albums (which this album was released on), you gotta have this album.

Jamie Black (vocals, guitar)
Reid Hudson (bass)
Tony Newman (drums)

1 Smoking the Day Away 8:21
2 I Don't Know? 4:45
3 Dreaming 6:35
4 Squeet 6:51
5 Tomorrow May Come 4:46
6 Fire Queen 4:18
7 Virgin Waters 6:34

Gomorrha - I Turned To See Whose Voice It Was (1972 German Prog Hard Psych)

SEGUNDO ALBUM DA BANDA GOMORRHA QUE É MUITO CONHECIDA PELO SEU PRIMEIRO DISCO DE 1970 CHAMADO "TRAUMA"!! ESTE ALBUM É UM POUCO MAIS RARO E TEM JAM SESSIONS INSTRUMENTAIS MUITO LEGAIS E COMPETENTES!! O DISCO TEM UM ESTILO PROGRESSIVO HARD PSICODÉLICO COM ALGUMAS VIAGENS ALUCINANTES, SONS PROGRESSIVOS COM VARIANTES HARDS, MELODIAS REGADAS A UMA BOA VIOLA 12 CORDAS E PERCUSSÃO (COMO É O CASO DA FAIXA TÍTULO QUE É UMA OBRA), UM BOM ORGAN HAMMOND DOMINANDO TODO O DISCO E RIFFS PESADOS DE GUITARRAS!! EXCELENTE E RARO VENENO!! NÃO CONSUMA COM MODERAÇÃO!!

Near the end of 1971, bassist Mike Eulner joined so that Eberhard didn't have to switch off from organ to bass.

In early 1972 Gomorrha went back into the studio and needed only four days to record the six songs for "I Turned To See Whose Voice It Was". The band sounded relaxed and laid back. And even though their sometimes ominous fantasies created an apocalyptic mood, their guitar and organ-dominated sound had a releasing and optimistic feel to it. Otten used experiences he had in his daily life for his lyrics, thus creating private images without showing any inclination towards social criticism. The album featured catchy instrumental jams, krautrock's original psych / spacey mood, pastoral flute parts and heavy guitar riffs.

Gomorrha only lasted another year. The members were not prepared to commit themselves to the uncertain life of musicians, so they split up and went back to their regular jobs, and none of them have ever returned to music.

Line-up :
- Eberhard Krietsch / organ, piano
- Helmuth Pohl / drums
- Mike Eulner / bass
- Ad Ochel / guitar
- Ali Claudi / guitar
- Peter Otten / vocals

Mouzakis - Magic Tube (1971 USA Hard Garage Psych)

ÓTIMA BANDA GARAGEIRA QUE TINHA UMA SONORIDADE INCRÍVEL E QUE VALE A PENA CONFERIR!! VENENASSO DE ALTA QUALIDADE!! SÓ PRA CITAR ALGUMAS: A FAIXA 4 É UMA PATADA NA NUCA E ONDE É NOTÓRIO O TALENTO TECLADISTA FRED DAWSON!! A FAIXA 7 É UMA BALADA PSYCH PERFEITA!! A FAIXA 2 UM COVER DE "ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK" NUM RYTHM BLUES BEM EMBALADO E MUITO LEGAL!! HARD GARAGEIRO E PSICODÉLICO NUMA COMBINAÇÃO PERFEITA!! ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

This is the collected works of East coast basement garage psych group Mouzakis : their full LP from 1971, a ralher expensive collector 's item, with their singles, including 4 unreleased tracks .from 1967, as well as some singles under lhe name Q( lheir previous band, The Fabulous Pharoahs, with 14 extra trac!es in addition.

The band started with R&B rock standards, adapted on its wtry bits Q( rock 'n roll, early rock, and stayed moslly rather on the edge with a more garage rock sound They learned songs like from Animais, and did a cover .from Blues Magoos. The co/lection Q( singles is like a quick browsing through some standard style influences of the time, while the vocal approach and directness keeps their approach, except for their latest tracks, often a bit raw and primitive, garage-like. * Groups of that time like The f~1lO, Animais and even the Rolling Stones very much liked to keep that rawness Q( garage alive in their more into the 70s directing rock expressions, also F abulous Pharoahs and Mouzakis fitted with that approach. Their LP however shows something extra. The tracks are a bit longer and especially the first two tracks show complex rhythm use in combination with their adapted R&B irifluence into rock territory. "Magic Tube " has a complex fast rhythm, (bass and drums) almost.fun~'Y in its bluesy rock way, while on top is slower

bluesy singing, with rhythm guitar, creating a unique kind of complexity I have not heard elsewhere. "Rock Around the clock" with additional organ parts continues a bit in the same direction. Unfortunately not all tracks are recorded in very good conditions, making them sound more garage-like. Most other tracks sound more familiar than these openers, but they still sound more attractive and more convincing than the singles.

Mouzakis - Magic Tube CD. "Surprisingly for a band which stayed together in one form or another for nearly 13 years, Magic Tube, originally released on the obscure British Main label is the only album that Mouzakis managed to issue during their lengthy career. Originally from Delaware, Mouzakis featured the talents of keyboard player Fred Dawson and drummer Eddie Stevenson, augmented by a neverending succession of guitarists. When asked later about Mouzakis, Fred Dawson opined 'after trying to get 4-5 people to agree on 'stuff to play,' we ended up as a three piece band. What we lacked in personnel we made up for in amplification.' Magic Tube, very much the rough and ready hard garage psych album, features almost complete material from the collective pen of Dawson and Stevenson. Of the band, one critic was moved to proclaim 'Mouzakis has to be heard to be believed. They are totally unique...and as a trio, they accomplish more in their sound than groups double their size!'"

Drum Circus - Magic Theatre (1971 Switzerland Psych Space Rock Jazz)

VENENO PODEROSO DESTA PIRADA BANDA SUÍÇA QUE FAZIA UM SOM PRA LÁ DE MALUQUETE!! O SOM DOS CARAS ERA UMA FUZZION ENTRE JAZZ, TEMAS ORIENTAIS, CÍTARAS E MUITA PERCUSSÃO, SENDO QUE EM ALGUNS MOMENTOS DESCAMBAM PARA A INSANIDADE E PODE CAUSAR EFEITOS COLATERAIS AOS QUE NÃO ESTÃO MUITO ACOSTUMADOS A ESTAS VIAGENS PSICODÉLICAS E AOS EXPERIMENTALISMOS!! DISCO RARO E ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO AOS ENVENENADOS QUE TEM "PESCOÇO GRANDE" PRA ENXERGAR LONGE, MUITO ALÉM DO QUE HORIZONTE LIMITADO NOS OFERECE!! UM BOM VINHO...UMA BOA TAÇA...ACOMPANHAMENTOS E UMA VIAGEM ALUCINANTE!!

Drum Circus is a shortlived Swiss band founded by the great drummer Peter Giger. The band he formed had three drummers (!) and many other musicians, including Joel Vandroogenbroeck, from Brainticket, playing Organ, Piano, Flute and Sitar. Carole Muriel from Brainticket appears also in the band doing vocals. Other curious thing about their only album is that the lyrics of two songs were written by the LSD guru Timothy Leary. After all this definition one can only think that the music contained in this album is rather crazy and in fact it is. If you like drumming/percussion, you will love this album.

The sidelong eponymous track, Magic Theatre, has many things and ideas included. The lyrics are inspired in the Tibetan Book of The Dead, written by Leary. The sound is varied, with a percussion intro, nice organ, good flute and drum passage, some drums with a collective chanting and then fantastic sitar sounds that are very skillfully played, along with some crazy saxophone, mridanga
(indian percussion) and indian-inspired chanting. Then are some avant-garde parts with percussion, sax improvisation and great organ sounds. After some jamming, there is some spoken phrases interpreted by the singers like in a play. After that a calm part with sitar, flute and percussion. Then some jazzy parts, with jazzy piano and saxophone, plus very good drumming. In the end there is the return of the theme under the spoken part.

The other songs are good also. Now It Hurts You is short, but has excellent sitar, organ and drumming. The vocals are strange in this song. Papera is a rather jazzy song with some soft saxophone arrangement and good piano. Percussion is always present and very interesting. The song has some changes during it. La-Si-Do is the strangest song with strange vocals and dominated by percussion, with many different sounds generating a good combination.Groove Rock is really groovy, with superb saxophone soloing and great organ and percussion backing the solo. The song is jazzy and the highlights are the superb drumming and the great saxophone.

All Things Pass has interesting piano and percussive sounds. The singing is inspired. The piano arrangement is somewhat jazzy and the drumming parts are very improvisational, with the usage of the less used parts of the drums, like cymbals.Overall is a nice album with a great mix of psychedelic indian influences and jazz and impressive drumming. The sound is not so much varied and some shorter songs resemble the long suite, but this is a little common for their genre (Krautrock).

1 - Magic Theatre
2 - Now it hurts you
3 - Papera
4 - La-si-do
5 - Groove rock
6 - All things pass

REQUEST: Grannie - Grannie (1971 UK Prog Rock Psych)

ULTRA-RARE ALBUM DESTA ÓTIMA BANDA INGLESA QUE FAZIA UM SOM REGADO AO BOM ORGAN HAMMOND E VOCAIS FEMININOS PODEROSOS!! SE TIVESSE QUE FAZER UMA COMPARAÇÃO DIRIA QUE O SOM LEMBRA MUITO AS BANDAS GRAVY TRAIN, CLEAR BLUE SKY E RAW MATERIAL!! BOM E RARÍSSIMO VENENO ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

This is one of these mega-rare privately-pressed albums which originally only appeared in demo form with just a handful of copies being available in a home-made paste-on sleeve. The musical menu is guitar-dominated heavy progressive rock but with sufficient melody to make it worth a listen. It contains six cuts in all with Coloured Armageddon Leaving, the punchy Saga Of A Sad Jester and Leaving, which had some melodic guitar work, the pick of the bunch.
Reissue of 1971 private release by this short lived UK band. Nothing more is known about the band itself. The album is filled with heavy guitar riffs, pounding drums and some psychedlic touches. In the vein of that typical 70s british rock sound of bands like Gravy Train, Clear Blue Sky and Raw Material.

Track List :
01. Leaving
02. Romany Return
03. Tomorrow Today
04. Saga of The Sad Jester

Haze - Hazecolor-Dia (1971 German Psych-Rock)

BEAUTIFUL POISON!!! GREAT SOUND PSYCH ROCK WHIT FLUTE SOLOS!!! HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!!

UMA MANEIRA DE ENCONTRAR O PARAÍSO E FUMAR O SEU HAXIXE!! ASSIM ERA DEFINIDO À ÉPOCA O SOM DO HAZE!! GRANDE SOM PSYCH ROCK COM SOLOS DE FLAUTA QUE NÃO SE SABE QUAL INTEGRANTE TOCA, VISTO QUE NÃO HÁ ESTA INFORMAÇÃO NA CAPA E NEM NA HISTÓRIA DA BANDA!!! ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO ESTE EXCELENTE VENENO QUE NÃO DEVE SER CONSUMIDO COM MODERAÇÃO!!!

The sole album released by Haze featured another of those extraordinary artwork sleeves designed by Walter Seyffer of Nine Days' Wonder fame. It was made to look exactly like a slide picture, complete with die-cut cover and an attached transparency picture center of the group Haze on both its front and back covers. What you get here is a photo reproduction of that artwork. Hazecolor-Dia was a Hauke & Dierks production, recorded during April 1971 at the Clerks Studio. All five tracks were written by Dietmar Low. Slow, cleverly-arranged heavy progressive rock numbers, psychedelically fueled with a faint blues tinge, featuring humorous lyrics: A Way To Find Paradise told about a hippy's struggle to get his hashish to smoke! Scherler really had a strange and wild voice (he usually screamed as loudly as he could), adding much to their gutsy freak rock style. Several tracks also featured flute (the flute player is not identified on the cover). Haze, in part, seem to draw inspiration from The Edgar Broughton Band, Arthur Brown, and Captain Beefheart. Their album is recommended for all freak rock fans!

Kurt Frei (drums),
Christian Scherler (vocals)
Hans-Jürg Frei (guitar, organ)
Dietmar Löw (bass)
Heinz Schwab (lead guitar)

Gift - Gift (1972 German Heavy Rock)

BOA E LEGENDÁRIA BANDA ALEMÃ DE HEAVY ROCK COM TOQUES PROGRESSIVOS E PSICODÉLICOS!! FORMADA EM 1969 COMO UMA BANDA DE ESCOLA CHAMADA "PHALLUS DEI"!! ESTE DISCO É MAIS HARD ROCK COM UM TRABALHO BEM CONSISTENTE!! ELES LANÇARAM DEPOIS, EM 1974, UM OUTRO ALBUM CHAMADO "BLUE APPLE" ONDE O ROCK VAI MAIS PARA HARD PROGRESSIVO COM UM BOM TRABALHO DE FLAUTA E HAMMOND!! ESTE SEGUNDO ALBUMVOU POSTAR NA SEQUÊNCIA!! ALBUM RARO E RECOMENDADO!!

Gift were one of those "no compromise" heavy progressive bands, who've now achieved a considerable cult status. They started up in 1969 as the school band Phallus Dei. Three years later Uwe Patzke (bass, vocals), Helmut Treichel (vocals), Rainer Baur (guitar) and Hermann Lanze (drums, percussion) recorded the first Gift album at Union Studios in Munich, produced by Otto B. Hartmann. Nick Woodland (guitar) was listed on the sleeve of their first album, but he had quit Gift before the recording session began, to join Subject Esq., later Sahara. The album comprised eight songs with no flutes, no woodwinds and no keyboards, just plain hard guitar riffs, to be compared to Hairy Chapter. Some of the lyrics had clear anti-drugs messages.

Recently (1990) Second Battle reissued this album in its original cover. Helmut Treichel left in 1973 and was replaced with Dieter Atterer (guitar, vocals). "Blue Apple" (1974) was also basically a heavy guitar album, but also featured keyboards courtesy of Dieter Frei (organ, piano, moog, mellotron, vocals). The album was recorded in Hamburg at Teldec Studios with Hartmann and Thomas Kukuck engineering. Both Gift albums are fine examples of German heavy progressive rock. Originals of their first album sell for more than 200 DM, "Blue Apple" sells for about 150 DM.

Dieter Atterer - lead guitar, lead vocals
Rainer Baur - lead guitar
Dieter Frei - organ, e-piano, piano, synthesizer moog, mellotron, vocals

REQUEST: Jeff St. John's Copperwine - Joint Effort (1971 Australia Psycho Rock)

AUSTRALIAN POISON AND THE BOTTLE IS VERY RARE!!
AMIGOS ENVENENADOS ESTE É UM VENENO AUSTRALIANO E O FRASCO É MUITO RARO!! ESTE DISCO É UM CHOQUE DIRETO NO CÉREBRO!! A BANDA FAZIA UM SOM QUE MESCLAVA PSSICODELIA COM PROGRESSIVO E TOQUES DE BLUES E SOUL!! AS VERSÕES QUE OS CARAS FIZERAM DA CANÇÃO "CANT FIND MY WAY HOME" DA BANDA "BLIND FAITH" É ALGO PRA LÁ DE SENSACIONAL!! ALIÁS, O DISCO TEM ALGUNS COVERS QUE, SINCERAMENTE, EM SUA MAIORIA SUPERAM AS ORIGINAIS, COMO É CASO CITADO E TAMBÉM DA VERSÃO PARA "CLOUD NINE" DA BANDA "THE TEMPTATIONS", ENTRE OUTRAS!! NO MAIS, FAZIAM CANÇÕES PRÓPRIAS ALTAMENTE QUALIFICADAS!! O ORGAN É USADO COM ALTA COMPETÊNCIA NESTE ALBUM QUE É UMA VERDADEIRA JÓIA RARA DO ROCK SETENTISTA!! VENENO EM ESTADO PURO!!

Copperwine was a Sydney-based band, who played between 1969-72. Two of their songs, ‘Freedom Blues’ and ‘Teach Me How To Fly’ can also be heard on ‘Great Hits From Australia's Great Stars’; ‘Keep On Growing’ has re-emerged on ‘12x12’, and ‘Cloud Nine’ has resurfaced on ‘So You Want To Be A Rock'n'Roll Star’ (3-CD).

‘Joint Effort’ is a psychedelic/progressive crossover album with some soul influences. It includes a surging, organ-based cover of The Temptations' ‘Cloud Nine’ and competent versions of Sly and The Family Stone's ‘Sing A Simple Song’ and Blind Faith's ‘Can't Find My Way Home’. There's lots of good self-penned material too; a long instrumental ‘Any Orange Night’, the fragile psychedelic-tinged 'Fanciful Flights Of Mind' and 'Days To Come'. A worthwhile album.

'Cloud Nine' and 'Days To Come' were culled for а 45 release, but surprisingly failed to chart. This situation was corrected by the follow-up, a cover of The Rotary Connection hit 'Teach Me How To Fly'. This brought them a significant hit and had a good flip side too in the soul-influenced 'Freedom Blues'. The band toured relentlessly during 1971 and appeared live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. They also released another good single, the delicate ‘Hummingbird’. By late 1971, friction had emerged between Jeff St. John and Copperwine. He left them early in 1972 to form his own band and pursue a solo career. Alan Ingham had earlier played with Glen Ingram and The Hi-Five.

Harry Brus - Bass
Ross East - Guitar, Vocals
Johnny Green - Guitar
Barry Kelly - Piano, Clarinet
Wendy Saddington - Vocals
Jeff St. John - Vocals
Peter Figures - Drums

Pugh's place is a progressive rock group formed in Leeuwarden, Fryslan. Hans Kerkhoven played in a local band called Example in 1965. This band turned into Pugh's Place. In the beginning they played covers by Steve Winwood, The Stones, The Yardbirds and The Kinks. But soon they started to write their own material and the music style changed to progressive rock. A debut album is released in 1969, which is called West One. This is followed by a single in 1970, Nothing is real / The horoscope . The band toured the Netherlands during 1970 an 1971. When two band members left the for studies, it was the end of Pugh's Place. After the band disbanded Nanne Kalma played in a band called Farmer's Union and Hans Kerkhoven and George Snijder went to a band called Ramses. In 1975 Kalma and Kerkhoven teamed up in the folkrock group Irolt. For the past few years Kerkhoven plays in the band Kalis.

Review:
Pugh Place's music is not very complex and can best be described as proto prog. Influences are sixties beat groups and the sound also reminds of early Jethro Tull and Focus. The album opens with a fantastic cover of the Beatle song "Drive my car". It is a heavy rendition with a proggy flute solo and a great hammond sound. All the ingredients on this track will be used througout the whole album. So you hear a lot of flute, organ and heavy guitars. Another great track is "Give me good music". It starts with a funcky bass line but ends very proggy. The rest of the album contains good music, but it is no masterpiece however.

01 - Drive my car [7:03]
02 - Old private John [4:39]
03 - Give me good music [5:50]
04 - Secret [4:22]
05 - The prisoner [4:21]
06 - Undesirable [4:10]
07 - Lady power [6:10]

Jade Warrior - Jade Warrior (1971 UK Psych Prog Rock)

COMO HAVIA PROMETIDO AQUI VAI O PRIMEIRO ALBUM DESTA EXCELENTE BANDA!! O SEGUNDO ALBUM TÁ POSTADO LOGO ABAIXO!! CONSUMA ESTE VENENO SEM MEDO DE SER FELIZ!!

Jade Warrior was (and is) an enigmatic and unique band with an uncategorizable sound that evolved over a lengthy career going through several different phases. Core members Tony Duhig (guitar) and Jon Field (percussionist/flute) had worked together in the late sixties in a psychedelic band called July. After July called it a day, the two worked together on various studio-based musical projects that ultimately led to Jade Warrior Mark 1, then joined by Glyn Havard (bass & vocals).

The music of Jade Warrior is somewhat difficult to describe. Among the influences you'll hear in various aspects of their music, rock, jazz, Latin, Japanese, African, ambient, and the kitchen sink (almost literally - there are spoons and an empty whiskey bottle in there somewhere!). It's often melodically simple, and rhythmically complex... or vice versa. This is the kind of music that everyone can hear different dimensions within and is conqueror of none.

The first album Jade Warrior from 1970 is a powerful opening statement, about half instrumental and half vocal, the songs cover a variety of ground but generally employ a rock base fused with world influences, with Field's flute and Duhig's non- standard guitar tuning - as well as the lack of a regular drum kit (mostly hand drums, bells and other percussion are used) giving their sound a character unlike any other. The dynamic shifts between loud and quiet passages would also be a trademark of their sound throughout their career. Some tracks are a bit more introspective and cerebral (for example "Masai Morning", "Wind Weaver" and "Slow Ride"), while others are more basic rock songs ("Petunia", "Psychiatric Sergeant", and "Telephone Girl") although these are affected by their unique style. A unique and strong debut that clearly showcased what an original and creative band Jade Warrior was.

Tracklist:
1. Traveller (2:40)
2. Prenormal Day At Brighton (2:45)
3. Masai Morning (6:44)
4. Windweaver (3:43)
5. Dragonfly Day (7:45)

7. Telephone Girl (4:54)

Laghonia - Etcetera (1971 Peru Psych Prog Rock)

EXCELENTE BANDA PERUANA COM SEU SEGUNDO ALBUM E QUE FAZIA UM PROGRESSIVO DA MELHOR QUALIDADE!! A FAIXA "I'M A NIGGER" É UM DOS SEUS GRANDES CLÁSSICOS E LEMBRA UM POUCO A BANDA JETHRO, MAS CERTAMENTE TEM UMA PERSONALIDADE PRÓPRIA!! VALE A PENA DAR UMA CONFERIDA NESTE VENENO PERUANO!! O PRIMEIRO ALBUM POSTO LOGO EM SEGUIDA!!

Laghonia "Etcetera" CD reissue of excellent early 70s South American psychedelic progressive rock. More progressive than their "Glue" album this one takes more chances, but both albums are considered classics in the genre. "The band improved their songwriting, got more complex, and remind sometimes of early Jethro Tull, King Crimson music, sometimes progressive, sometimes folky or mystic, but always intense and catchy, excellent fuzz and wah-wah guitars, magic Hammond B-2 organ and a variety of rhythms, all English lyrics."

Peruvian outfit's album originally released in 1971, the album showed the bands songwriting getting more complex and is similar at times to early Jethro Tull, King Crimson etc, sometimes progressive, sometimes folky or esotheric, but always intense and catchy. English lyrics, excellent fuzz and wah-wah guitars, magic Hammond B-2 organ and a variety of rhythms. It comes with outstanding original artwork, a true psychedelic painting by M. Cornejo.

"The second World In Sound reissue of Laghonia, the EtCetera album originally released in 1971.The band improved their songwriting, got more complex, and remind sometimes of early Jethro Tull, King Crimson music, sometimes progressive, sometimes folky or mystic, but always intense and catchy, excellent fuzz and wah-wah guitars, magic Hammond B-2 organ and a variety of rhythms, all English lyrics. It comes with outstanding original artwork, a true psychedelic painting by M. Cornejo, in a foldout cover, 4 bonus tracks incl. 2 never released songs. Comes in a high quality digipack cover, same as the Laghonia's Glue CD with an extra 8 page booklet and amazing original artwork by M. Cornejo. Both Laghonia albums, Glue and EtCetera belong to most legendary and best South American psychedelic collector albums, besides La Revolucion de Emiliano Zapata, Modulo 1000, Toncho Pilatos, Traffic Sound -- Laghonia is a must for psychedelic and progressive Rock freaks -- only original music."

Roy Harper - Sophisticated Beggar (1966 UK Folk Psych)

UM BELO DISCO PRA QUEM GOSTA DE UM FOLK PSYCH ACÚSTICO!! UM ESTILO MEIO SYD BARRET E LEMBRANDO AL STEWART COM CANÇÕES HARMONIOSAS E BELAS!! UMA VIAGEM COM VIOLÃO ACÚSTICO E TOQUES DE CÍTARA TOCADOS COM PRIMAZIA!! ROY HARPER É O CARA MEUS AMIGOS!! NESTE ESTILO É INSUPERÁVEL!! VENENO PRA CURTIR E FICAR TRANQUILO E RELAXADO!! ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!! NÃO DESOCUPE O PLANETA SEM ANTES ESCUTAR ESTE DISCO!!

Harper's first album, The Sophisticated Beggar, was recorded in 1966 after he was spotted at London's premier Soho folk club, Les Cousins, and signed to Peter Richard's Strike Records. The album consisted of Harper's poetry backed by acoustic guitar and recorded with a Revox tape machine.

Recorded under primitive circumstances and not distributed well on initial release, Harper's debut proves that the definitive cult folk-rock singer's idiosyncratic weirdness was firmly in place from the start. Mostly but not wholly acoustic, there are lingering similarities to Donovan and Bert Jansch, as well as a light similarity to Al Stewart on occasion. But Harper's scrambled lyricism is already his own, as is his peculiar melismatic phrasing. Those two traits combine to give the impression of a singer-songwriting dyslexic, not able or willing to write words that are easily digested and apparently unsequenced in any linear fashion.

That isn't the most appetizing recipe, but it's leavened by fairly attractive British folk melodies and very accomplished guitar work (the liner notes infer that John Renbourn and Ritchie Blackmore helped out). Although this is largely acoustic, electric guitar and backing are used from time to time, as well as reverb and backwards effects that give it a dated charm. Certainly the most uncharacteristic arrangement is "Committed," a crunching, ominous rock tune whose first-person account of madness recalls Syd Barrett's most distraught work (and is if anything more distraught than Barrett's loony tunes). And speaking of Pink Floyd, "October 12th" makes you wonder if Harper's influence didn't find its way into the post-Syd Floyd on tunes like "Grantchester Meadows."-Allmusic

REQUEST: The Deviants - Ptooff (1967 UK Psychedelic Rock)

A maturidade do Garage Rock!!

No encarte deste disco tem a seguinte frase: "Nós somos a banda que irá perverter os seus filhos". VENENO COM AÇÃO PERVERTIVA IRMÃOS!!

01. "Opening" (Bishop/Farren/Hunter/Rees/Sparkes)
02. "I'm coming Home" (Bishop/Farren/Hunter)
03. "Child Of The Sky" (Farren/Rees/Hammond)

05. "Nothing Man" (Farren/Moore)

Stone Harbour-Emerges (1974 US Acid Folk Progressive)

QUE BELA BANDA!! QUE BOM VENENO!! SOM AS VEZES ÁCIDO E "SUJO" COM GUITARRAS DISTORCIDAS, ORA CALMO E VIAJANTE!! PSYCH ROCK PROGRESSIVE DIFERENTE E ALUCINANTE!! RECOMENDADO!!

Check this weird album..Psychedelia, acid folk and some progressive chords..Early Byrds like album, everyone that dont know this should try it and tell me..Nice guitar solos, though the music quality is not the best!Just two guys stoned to the bone playing psych in a basement, private press..

First off, anyone looking for a well-played collection of technically sophisticated and mind altering music is likely to be appalled by 1974's "Emerges". That said, this is one of those rarities where the hype is actually well deserved and probably doesn't really do the record justice. To be blunt, this album is so bad that it is actually good !!!

Based in Youngstown, Ohio, multi-instrumentalist Ric Ballas and singer/drummer Dave McCarty comprised the Stone Harbour line-up. I've got no idea what their backgrounds were, let alone how the pair came together, but judging by their album, the results of their collaboration were pretty wild. Released on their own Stone Harbor label, the album was apparently a vanity project with Ballas and McCarty producing, engineering, arranging, writing all ten tracks and handling all of the vocals and instrumentation.
Musically material like 'Grains of Sand' (complete with end of song aural meltdown), 'Summer Magic Is Gone' and the instrumental 'Thanitos' (sounding like a surf band on a truly nasty acid trip) offered up a pure, unadulterated set of low-fi mid-1970s psych. Thoroughly toasted, tracks like 'You'll Be a Star', 'Rock & Roll Puzzle' and 'Still Like That Rock & Roll' offered up heavy doses of acid soaked lyrics, sprinkled with barely in-tune vocals, oddball time signatures, screeching guitar, some of the lamest synthesizers you've ever heard and a weird array of sound and production effects. That probably didn't sound like the makings of a classic album, but the duo's sense of enthusiasm and commitment somehow pulled it all together overcoming the host of technical and performance limitations that should have killed this beast.
While their performances never matched that enthusiasm (on much of the album it sounded like the pair were playing different songs at the same time), that goofy, low-tech approach certainly added to the album's under-achieving charm. ON a personal note, anyone got a clue why the pair thanked Uriah Heep's Ken Hensley in the liner notes "we made it" ? Extraordinary basement psych with two multi-instrumentalists creating a melancholic dreamlike state with songs fading in and out of the speakers, cavemen drums, primitive electronics and murky fuzz lurking in the background. The best tracks go into places no other albums reach. Actually closer to the heart of psychedelia than most other records listed here. The two hard rocking tracks that have been comp'd are not representative of the album as a whole, and add an unwanted "roots" feeling that disturb the trip somewhat. Still, one of the Ohio classics, with unparalleled artwork on the sleeve. Beware of an earlier "reissue" on Void (#20) titled "Re-emerges", which is new recordings of the 1974 material.
