Alcatraz - Vampire State Building (1971 German Prog Jazz Rock Fuzzion)

BELA BANDA ALEMÃ QUE FAZIA UM SOM QUE MISTURAVA VÁRIOS ESTILOS SEMPRE COM MUITA COMPETÊNCIA!! ALTAS IMPROVISAÇÕES E VARIAÇÕES DE ALTO NÍVEL!! UM FUZZION CARREGADO COM MUITO PIANO, GUITARRA FUZZ TRABALHANDO BEM, METAIS E FLAUTAS PONTUAIS!! UM BELO VENENO ALEMÃO QUE NÃO DEVE SER CONSUMIDO COM MODERAÇÃO!!

Vampire State Building is a killer release from 70's Germany underground. The band delivers a bunch of bombastic, extremely freaked out fuzzy improvisations including jazzy tendencies. Simple Headphone Mind opens the album with a surprising hippie like groovy jazz variation that features powerful piano bases, enchanting flute line and a very catchy rhythm. The break session provides endless screaming fuzzy guitar solos accompanied by a very jazzy instrumentation. Tour chance of a Lifetime is a heartbreaking, cloudy compositions for dense, spacious melodies with beautifully dramatic vocals. Where the wild things are is an hyperactive freak 'n roll piece with killer riffs, mysteriously atmospheric jazz fusion links. Piss off is a bizarre, curious, fuzzy & druggy jam making a large part to atonal guitar / sax dialogues. Change will come is a retro jazz rockin' piece including a nice groove and agitated stoned vocals. Dirty, Heavy druggy psychedelica. An important musical document.

Rüdiger Berghan (piano, vocal)
Klaus Holst (guitarras)
Klaus Nagurski (flautas, saxofone)
Ronald Wilson (baixo)
Jan Rieck (bateria).

Butler were one of few all-Maori rock bands. All four members were originally from Rotorua, but the band actually formed in Christchurch in 1970. Predominantly an underground group, they played their early gigs at the Open Door, before moving into Trevor Spitz's nightspot Aubrey's.

Having built a strong Christchurch following, the band took stabs at other South Island centres, returning to hometown Rotorua in 1971. From there they began building up a North Island following, proving popular on the University circuit with their combination of originals and Led Zeppelin / Wishbone Ash covers.

Some television exposure followed with a spot on 'Happen Inn', 'Popco' and 'Free Ride'. This was fairly rare for an underground group and even with this they never really gained much pulling power. In 1973 they recorded a self-titled album for Pye. It was released on the Family label and from it came one single, "Green River"/"Especially For You".

Skid Row - Skid Row (1970 Irish Hard Rock Blues)

BANDA OBSCURA IRLANDESA E A PRIMEIRA BANDA DO GUITARRISTA GARY MOORE!! ALÉM DE MOORE TINHA TAMBÉM PHIL LYNOTT, LÍDER DO THIN LIZZY!! O SOM DOS CARAS ERA UM BLUES ROCK MUITO LEGAL!!

The band was formed in 1967, comprising Brush Shiels on bass guitar, Noel (Nollaig) Bridgeman (currently with Van Morrison) on drums, Phil Lynott on vocals, and Bernard (Bernie) Cheevers on lead guitar. Cheevers was replaced by the 16-year-old Gary Moore in 1969, and the band recorded a single, Misdemeanour Dream Felicity/New Places, Old Faces, for the Irish Song Records label (the only recording of Lynott with Skid Row). Later that year Shiels dropped Lynott from the line-up, converting Skid Row to a power trio by making Moore the lead vocalist.[1] By way of compensation, he taught Lynott to play bass, and Lynott went on to international fame as founder, bassist and vocalist for Thin Lizzy.[2] The band recorded a second single for Song, Saturday Morning Man/Mervyn Aldridge. These two singles, plus three tracks from a BBC recording, were issued on the Hux label as "Live and on Song"" in April 2006.

Skid Row played support to many of the great rock groups of the sixties, including Fleetwood Mac. Moore was influenced by the Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green, who was in turn impressed by Moore's guitar playing and introduced him to the Columbia record company. The band released its first album "Skid", in October 1970. A second LP, entitled "34 Hours" - so entitled because it took them a mere 34 hours to record it - was released in 1971. Moore left the band in December 1971 (he was replaced by Paul Chapman, later of UFO) and later played with Thin Lizzy. Chapman left in July 1972.The rest of their recorded material was released in 1990 and 1991.

Although the group had little success outside Ireland and the UK (Skid reached no. 30 on the UK album charts), its influence on Irish rock music (and consequently on rock music in general) was considerable. In 1987 Moore sold the name Skid Row to the American heavy metal band for $35,000.[3] Shiels has said that he has always been unhappy at the group 'stealing their name', and said of manager Doc Magee, "he could be Doc Marten for all I know...but he's going to get a kick up the arse.".[2]

The Boots – Here Are The Boots (1966 German Rythm & Blues)

O disco abre com ‘She's About a Mover’ (clássico dos Sir Douglas Quintet), e segue com ‘Gloria’ (Them/Van Morrison), ‘Jump Back, Baby’ (Rufus Thomas) e ‘Dimples’ (John Lee Hooker), entre outras.

Eela Craig - Eela Craig (1971 Austria Rock Prog Fusion)

MUITO BOM GRUPO VINDO DA AUSTRIA E COM UMA CURIOSIDADE: A BANDA TINHA 3 TECLADISTAS QUE UTILIZAVAM VÁRIOS INSTRUMENTOS COMO HAMMOND ORGAN C3, MELLOTRON, E-PIANO E AINDA MAIS UM PIANISTA, FLAUTA E SAX!! COM TUDO ISSO NÃO TEM COMO NÃO SER BOM!! OS CARAS FAZIAM UM BELO SOM!! TRATA-SE DE UM VENENO AUSTRIACO DE PRIMEIRA LINHA E ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!! NÃO CONSUMA COM MODERAÇÃO!!

Eela Craig biography
This often overlooked Austrian band epitomizes the whole Austrian progressive movement. The prime mover is Hubert Bognermayr (keyboards and vocals) who later became known because of his pioneering with the Fairlight computer and his 'electronic hunter's lodge' (blessed by international musicians and the famous Bob Moog). The other members were Hubert Schnauer (keyboards and flute), Harald Zuschader (keyboards, flute and guitar), Fritz Riedelberger (guitar, piano and vocals), Gerhard Englisch (bas and percussion) and Frank Hueber (drums and percussion). They released the eponymous first album ('71), "One Niter" ('76), "Hats of Glass" ('77), "Missa Universalis" ('78), "Virgin Oiland" ('80), "Hit or Miss" ('88) and "Symphonic Rock" (from '95 containing the 2nd and 3rd LP on 1 CD). I'm only familiar with the LP's "One Niter" and "Hats of Glass". The music on these albums is 24-carat symphonic rock but hard to compare, maybe some hints from RICK WAKEMAN solo, ELOY, PINK FLOYD and CAMEL can be traced.

My collection contains the great compilation-CD "Symphonic Rock" including the songs from the albums "One Niter" and "Hats of Glass", considered as their best ones (I prefer the more compelling "One Niter"). The melodic and harmonic music from EELA CRAIG is build upon beautiful interplay between four members with their keyboards (ranging from soaring strings and bombastic choir-Mellotron to the typical sound of the Fender Rhodes electric piano, sensational Moog flights, swinging clavinet and powerful Hammond organ runs) and sensitive and howling electric guitarplay. The moving compositions sound warm and are coloured with lots of instruments, from the aforementioned keyboards to flute, acoustic guitar and assorted percussion. Wonderful symphonic rock that takes you to cloud number nine!

- Harald Zuschrader / organ, flute, guitar, sax
- Hubert Bognermayr / keyboards
