One of the biggest blues/rock acts on the planet between 1969 and 1974, Ten Years After could attribute their far reaching success to two things: Promoter Bill Graham and their appearance in the landmark music documentary Woodstock. Graham was among the earliest U.S. promoters to book the band, and he made them a staple act at both Fillmores East and West. TYA went from virtual obscurity to rock superstardom simply as a result of their compelling number "I'm Going Home," a 10-minute blues/rock jam from their 1968 album, Undead.

This recording was made at Graham's larger Winterland venue in 1971, two years after the band had skyrocketed to fame with the Woodstock movie. (The person who cut Ten Years After's revolutionary split screen segment in the Woodstock movie, one might be interested to know, was a novitiate editor named Martin Scorcese). The show takes place near the end of the of the band's golden years, when TYA had become primarily a vehicle for Alvin Lee's blistering guitar work, its songs comprised of equal parts rock, blues and jazz.

Shortly after recording this show, the band would leave Decca Records, the label who had signed them in 1967, and move to Columbia's corporate home. Columbia would take the band in a more radio friendly/pop driven direction (hence, the hit single "I'd Love To Change The World"). Frustrated with the popular music trend, Alvin Lee left the band, which disbanded soon after the second Columbia release in 1974.

This recording, which features several hot blues jams, a great version of the riff-rock anthem "Love Like A Man" and another dynamic rendition of "I'm Going Home," is a testament to the band's musical prime. Ric Lee shows how strong a jazz drummer he is when they break into some free-form, jazzy jams during several of the numbers here.

The original lineup made one reunion LP and did one more tour in 1988/89 before disbanding again. In 2003, Ric Lee assembled the group again, although Alvin would not participate. He was replaced by guitarist Joe Gooch, and the band is still recording and touring today.

ESTE VENENO É MORTAL, PODE DAR ALUCINAÇÕES, MAS NÃO TENHA MEDO DE SER FELIZ!! NÃO CONSUMA COM MODERAÇÃO!!
Bakerloo originally formed around 1968 under the moniker ‘Bakerloo Blues Line’ in the Birmingham area. The line-up then was Dave ‘Clem’ Clempson on guitar and vocals, Terry Poole on bass and John Hinch on drums. Initially they stuck to a largely blues based set, yet like so many of the innovative acts of the era grew tired of the formula and began to experiment.

They attracted Black Sabbath’s future manager Jim Simpson, and attracted a considerable following- enough to win them a slot on John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show ‘Top Gear’. However, there was a touch of Spinal Tap syndrome with drummers as Hinch was replaced with a multitude of players until they finally settled on Keith Baker. They also decided to drop the ‘Blues Line’ and became the shortened Bakerloo, and were put on a package tour called ‘Big Bear Ffolly’ (which inspired Bakerloo’s song of the same name) with other local bands Tea and Symphony, Locomotive (another highly innovative proto prog combo) and Earth, who would of course later evolve into the massively successful Black Sabbath.

They recorded their album prior to getting a record deal under the aegis of legendary, recently deceased producer Gus Dudgeon yet eventually, Simpson secured a deal with the new ‘progressive/underground’ imprint Harvest Records, which housed the likes of Pink Floyd, Edgar Broughton Band and aforementioned fellow Brummies, Tea and Symphony.Though the album received very enthusiastic reviews and the band had a sizeable cult following, it sold little. This was a shame, because it remains a genuinely ‘progressive’ album with blues, jazz, classical and heavy rock meeting head-on, yet seamlessly. However, internal ructions ripped the band apart anyway and despite some line-up reshuffles, with noted rock drummer Cozy Powell joining the band.

That line-up lasted a small amount of time before Jon Hiseman, who had been impressed with Clempson’s guitar prowess, invited him to join the legendary jazz rock combo Colosseum. Keith Baker joined Uriah Heep for their classic ‘Salisbury’ album and Terry Poole turned up on blues/jazz rock innovator Graham Bond’s albums of the era.Clempson, after Colosseum split, went on to work with heavy rockers Humble Pie who were a massive success, and Rough Diamond with ex-Uriah Heep singer David Byron, who were not. Clempson continued to work with a variety of artists. However, the other members seemingly fell off the radar after the 1970s.Still, Bakerloo’s one and only album (a real collector’s item in original vinyl format) is a definite underrated classic and has a lot to offer fans of the genre.

Reissue of the first Flied Egg album, originally issued by Japanese Vertigo in 1972. An offshoot of the short-lived Strawberry Path, Flied Egg were a trio of Shigeru Narumo (guitar, keyboards), Hiro Tsunoda (drums, vocals) and Masayoshi Takanaka (bass). They played a hogwash of progressive hard rock with pop-like flourishes all featuring English vocals.the album have a very nice psuedo Dali-cover painting. And what band to ever appear on the Vertigo roster had a better name than Flied Egg?

REPOST: Jade Warrior - Jade Warrior (1971 UK Psych Prog Rock)

DIFÍCIL COLOCAR UM RÓTULO NO ESTILO DESTA EXCELENTE BANDA, MAS DARIA PRA DIZER QUE FICA ENTRE O PROGRESSIVO PSICODÉLICO COM PITADAS SUTIS DE JAZZ!! ESTE É O PRIMEIRO ALBUM LANÇADO!! FLAUTA, PERCUSSÃO E KEYBOARDS DÃO O TOM DESTE VENENO QUE RECOMENDO A TODOS QUE GOSTAM DE UM BOM PROGRESSIVO!! EM BREVE COLOCO TAMBÉM A REPOSTAGEM DO SEGUNDO ALBUM!! VENENASSO PURO E DE EXCELENTE EFEITO!! NÃO CONSUMA COM MODERAÇÃO!!

Jade Warrior was (and is) an enigmatic and unique band with an uncategorizable sound that evolved over a lengthy career going through several different phases. Core members Tony Duhig (guitar) and Jon Field (percussionist/flute) had worked together in the late sixties in a psychedelic band called July. After July called it a day, the two worked together on various studio-based musical projects that ultimately led to Jade Warrior Mark 1, then joined by Glyn Havard (bass & vocals).
The music of Jade Warrior is somewhat difficult to describe. Among the influences you'll hear in various aspects of their music, rock, jazz, Latin, Japanese, African, ambient, and the kitchen sink (almost literally - there are spoons and an empty whiskey bottle in there somewhere!). It's often melodically simple, and rhythmically complex... or vice versa. This is the kind of music that everyone can hear different dimensions within and is conqueror of none.

The first album Jade Warrior from 1970 is a powerful opening statement, about half instrumental and half vocal, the songs cover a variety of ground but generally employ a rock base fused with world influences, with Field's flute and Duhig's non- standard guitar tuning - as well as the lack of a regular drum kit (mostly hand drums, bells and other percussion are used) giving their sound a character unlike any other. The dynamic shifts between loud and quiet passages would also be a trademark of their sound throughout their career. Some tracks are a bit more introspective and cerebral (for example "Masai Morning", "Wind Weaver" and "Slow Ride"), while others are more basic rock songs ("Petunia", "Psychiatric Sergeant", and "Telephone Girl") although these are affected by their unique style. A unique and strong debut that clearly showcased what an original and creative band Jade Warrior was.

2. Prenormal Day At Brighton (2:45)
3. Masai Morning (6:44)

Pink Floyd - Cruel But Fair (Los Angeles 26-03-1975)

DEPOIS, SE PRESTAREM BEM ATENÇÃO, TEM A MUSICA "SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND" QUANDO A VERSÃO AINDA TAVA SEM O SAX!! "HAVE A CIGAR" AQUI AINDA TÁ EM FASE FINAL!! UM VENENASSO FLOYDIANO QUE NÃO DEVE SER CONSUMIDO COM MODERAÇÃO!! OBRA!!

Millard esteve ativo desde 1974 até os anos 80 e disse ter gravado shows do Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jethro Tull e até Kansas. Até hoje, nunca encontrei uma cópia do seu Who ou gravações Tull. Os masters do Led Zeppelin são conhecidos por estar na posse da família de Millard. Esperemos que um dia eles sejam compartilhados novamente.

-------------------------------

The fan recording of a concert is really an extension of taking snapshots of your heroes. Back in the ‘60s and ‘70s recordable media was just making its way into households as a consumer electronic device, either an expensive reel-to-reel deck or a convenient cassette recording deck. Just imagine sneaking one of those into a concert these days. More likely, the stealth recorder of choice today would be a mini-disc recorder or your handphone. Small enough to fit your pocket.

But Michael Millard was different. He arrived early at concerts near his home, pulled out a wheelchair from the boot of his car and proceeded to wheel himself into the arena as an invalid. He managed to secure front row "seats", almost always front and centre. Hidden underneath his wheelchair was a Nakamichi stereo cassette deck hooked up to two high-quality AKG mics. Security guards in those days were probably unaware of such goings on.

His recordings were much sought after for their quality - capturing the expanse of the stage plus the great ambience of the halls. His close proximity eliminated any echo from his recordings. All the instruments recorded right off the front speakers. Plant’s voice is crystal clear. But Millard had a habit of marking his tapes when he copied them for another collector or fan. He would, for instance, lower the levels when transferring the audio to a VHS tape or lower the volume in mid-song when making a cassette copy. It has been said he detested bootleggers who pressed up his recordings onto vinyls or CDs to sell. To that end, he kept a log of all the trades he made with clear indications of what markings he did to the tapes. That way, he knew which of his trades were sent to bootleggers.

He worked as a custodian in a public school. In a fit of depression, he committed suicide in 1990. His friends say he destroyed all copies of his Led Zeppelin recordings. What has survived are the first generation copies he made and shared freely with other Zep fans. These are what are now being traded back and forth.

Millard was active from 1974 to the ‘80s and was said to have taped shows by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jethro Tull and even Kansas. To date, we have never found a copy of his Who or Tull recordings. The non-Zeppelin masters are known to be in possession of Millard’s family. Hopefully, someday they will be shared again.

This version of Lock Up Your Mothers is the rare, original three CD set only available for a short time in 1994, before changing to the still available condensed single CD. This is not a studio or live album, greatest hit's or compilation, it's a retrospective of Billy's music between the years of 1969 to 1973 as seen through his eyes, which is why I chose it for today...very appropriate. Although this has a number of The Aztecs biggest hit's on it, including Billy's signature song Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy, some of the best live 70's rock you'll ever hear as well as many classic studio recordings, this is not an album for everybody. Personally, I love it. Disc 3, which I still play all the time, has the best version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow (live), you'll ever hear & my favorite song for laying back with my eyes closed & playing ridiculously loud, Slowly Learning How.

The Aztecs were known for being the loudest band in the world, even when they played in a small pub they tried to make your ears bleed. You can tell how loud they were by all the feedback coming out of their amps on these live tracks & to get the most out of these tracks, you should play them as loud as possible...Billy would've wanted it that way.

**NOTES: Although the entire "Hoax Is Over LP is included, it is edited to make room for other tracks. Here are some minor inaccuracies in the notes (credit again to: THORPIE! by Paul McHenry):
The track "Back Home In Australia" is claimed to be on the "Opera House"LP, but actually appeared as a B-side to the single "Cigarettes & Whiskey" and on the Atlantic compilation, "Gold"
The Live version of "Over The Rainbow" and "New Orleans"and "Let's have A Party" were actually recorded at Sunbury 1974, not '73.
The Meyer Music Bowl concert was in 1972, not 1973
"More Arse Than Class" was released in 1974, not '73.

REPOST: Peacepipe - Peacepipe (1970 US Heavy Psychedelic)

CRIAÇÃO DO GUITARRISTA "JOHN UZONYI" ESTE POWER TRIO AMERICANO FAZIA UM HEAVY PSICODÉLICO COM UMA GUITARRA ÁCIDA E DISTORCIDA E TECLADOS RODANDO A MIL!! O DISCO É IRREGULAR MAS NA SUA MAIORIA TRATA-SE DE UM BOM VENENO!! EDIÇÃO LIMITADA A 600 CÓPIAS NA ÉPOCA DA DISTRIBUIÇÃO DO ALBUM QUE ERA INÉDITO ATÉ OS MEADOS DOS ANOS 90 QUANDO FOI REEDITADO EM CD A PARTIR DA MASTER TAPE ORIGINAL PELA GRAVADORA SHADOKS!!

Peacepipe were the brainchild of guitarist John Uzonyi. They were a power trio that played Southern California and Arizona in the late '60s. They released a single during their existence, and also cut this album, which remained unreleased until the mid-'90s. Originally released on Rockadelic on vinyl only, Shadoks has now reissued it on compact disc, remastered from the original tapes. If you're into heavy psych guitar, you really need to hear this album. Uzonyi has a monstrous tone on guitar, similar at times to Jimi Hendrix's feedback dive-bombing, but the two have very different playing styles. Uzonyi is aided by drummer Gary Tsuruda and keyboard player Rick Abts, but the show belongs to Uzonyi. There are at least two guitars present most of the time, Uzonyi is the singer, and he most likely plays the bass tracks as well. The material ranges from superheavy guitar insanity to more poppy material. To be honest, Uzonyi's lyrics and vocals are nothing to write home about (especially the awful lyrics to "Angel of Love"), but his guitar playing saves the day. There's no studio trickery to speak of (except for the weird tremolo vocals on the last track), although engineer Eirik Wangberg did a masterful job of capturing what Uzonyi was trying to do, and came up with a great, dynamic mix and fun stereo panning effects. The album sounds of its day, but some of the guitar playing still sounds inventive. Shadoks specializes in releasing unknown, obscure material, and they've dug up a great one here.

"COMO É RIPAGEM DE VINIL SOMENTE A CAPA DA FRENTE ESTÁ DISPONÍVEL!!
ONLY FRONT COVER!! RIP BY LP!!"

"Another great example of Brasilian 'psicodelia' from the collective of underground musicians in Recife, featuring Flávio Lira in the lead role, along with Lula Côrtes, Pablo Raphael, Robertinho of Recife, and Zé of the Flute. Of the crazy albums from this period, the Flaviola record Flaviola E O Banda Do Sol (Flaviola and the Flock of the Sun) is one of the rarest jewels. Although it was recorded the same year (1974) as Lula Côrtes and Zé Ramalho's Paêbiru album, and with most of the same musicians, this is mainly an acoustic album, rife with poetic language and regional instruments, but also demonstrating the abundant energy of people involved in making something fresh and new. The cauldron of influence in Recife resulted in some very intriguing music, and the Flaviola album is no exception -- it's more intimate a trip than Paêbirú, and more accessible an experience than Satwa; this is a brilliant album, full of strange moments (cellophane crinkled into the microphone as percussion), some deft acoustic guitar, and some of the prettiest songs this side of Vashti Bunyan.

Butterfingers - Butterfingers (1970 Hard Rock Fuzzy)

VENENASSO HARD!! ÚNICO ALBUM DESSA ÓTIMA BANDA AMERICANA QUE FAZIA O QUE MUSICOS CHAMAM DE "FUZZED HARD ROCK"!! POUCO SE SABE DE INFORMAÇÕES SOBRE A BANDA!! TRATA-SE DE UM SOM PESADO SOANDO COMO UMA DE BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY BEM MAIS FORTE!! SÃO 10 FAIXAS HEAVY CHEIAS DE ALMA E CARREGADAS DE COM PESO DE GUITARRA FUZZ, ORGAN E UM VOCAL FORTE E PODEROSO!! O CARA CANTA COMO UMA JANIS JOPLIN MASCULINA!!

This album was released as a testpressing only and recorded in the US Midwest 1970. Nothing is known about this album, a mystery like Jungle. 10 great heavy tracks loaded with extra heavy fuzz-guitar, organ and souly male vocals. The guy sings like a male Janis Joplin, the music sounds like a tough version of Big Brother & Holding Comp. Nothing for sweet Folkpsych fans. This is big-boys-stuff. Heavy and full of soul. It bites.

I.D. Company - I.D. Company (1970 German Eastern Jazzy Psych)

ALTÍSSIMA RARIDADE!! HIGHEST RARITY!!
AQUI ESTAMOS FALANDO DE UMA BANDA ALEMÃ FORMADA POR "INGA RUMPF", AQUELA MESMA MAGISTRAL VOCALISTA DAS BANDAS FRUMPY E ATLANTIS!! O SOM QUE ESCUTAMOS AQUI É DIVIDO EM DUAS PARTES!! A PRIMEIRA PARTE, PRA MIM A MELHOR, É CONDUZIDA POR INGA RUMPF QUE MOSTRA UMA PSICODELIA ORIENTAL, INDIANA, COM FLAUTAS, CÍTARAS E TAMBORES VOODOOS DE PRIMEIRA LINHA!! A PRIMEIRA FAIXA, POR EXEMPLO, PARECE MUITO COM O QUE FÊZ DR JOHN NA MUSICA GRIS GRIS!! INGA LOGO DEPOIS DESSE ALBUM FOI CANTAR NA BANDA FRUMPY!! JÁ A SEGUNDA PARTE É CONDUZIDA POR DAGMAR KRAUSE E JÁ PASSA MAIS PARA UM CLIMA INSANO, JAZZ PSICODÉLICO, COM VÁRIOS EFEITOS MALUCOS, FLAUTAS, SAX E ALUCINAÇÕES!! EXCELENTE, RARÍSSIMO E VENENO RECOMENDADO!!!

First track is heavy female voice driven soulrock with handpercussion instead of drums, giving a voodoo effect to the track. At some point, the black driven American accent in the lead singing and affective rhythm and background chorus has never the less the Indian theme, something of the powerful and acclaimed Gris-Gris from Dr.John. Second track, “Bum Bum” with sitar drone and the nice sound of bass (Hans Hartmann) and flute which is much more Indian inspired psychedelia. It has a purely percussive part, with some experimental overloading echoes in the extra arranged layer (Joe Nay). Last part still led by singer Inga Rumpf is another psych improvisation, with a soulful song embedded, a trippy track with more use of handpercussion, flute, sitar, percussive ideas. Inga came from the band City Preachers, and was soon going to sing in Frumpy.

The second part is led by Dagmar Krause, and even when singing with a certain soul as well, brings the band into a much more contemporary character. Her voices also has some split tape effects, and is at parts strangely deformed, while the band loosely jams along in a jazzy way of tempered rock with slow bursts of flute and sax (Frank St.Peter). The next track keeps that weird feeling going on, with vocals that are closer to Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire than to any rock or soulrock singing. The band never the less succeeds to add a jazzrock flavour to this. “Schneeweisse Handen”, which is even more lead by even more odd contemporary vocals and processed vocals, the band can’t do anything else but provide a calm and moody rather contemporary jazz carpet. By “Schwarzes Insekt” one must realize this whole idea could have been an alternative improvised rock version of a work like that of Schönberg. Interesting!

Here I recognise how Dagmar I think must have come from East Germany, and had education in some contemporary masters. Dagmar Krause continued her work after this in UK, with her avant-pop band Slapp Happy, the avant-prog band Art Bears and in one album of contemporary/RIO/Avant-prog band Henry Cow, but she also sang a great song rock album with Kevin Coyne (“Babble”), and recorded wonderful Hans Eisler/Bertold Brecht interpretations.

Frank St. Peter: sax, flute
Hans Hartmann: Sitar, Kontrabass
Joe Nay: percussion
Wolfgang Kliegel: violin
Inga Rumpf: vocal
Dagmar Krause: vocal

ALTÍSSIMA RARIDADE!! HIGH RARITY!!
EXCELENTE BANDA INGLESA QUE FAZIA UM HARD ROCK COM PITADAS PSICODÉLICAS E QUE GRAVOU APENAS ESSE ÚNICO ALBUM!! "RICK PARNELL" DEPOIS VIRIA SER O BATERISTA DA GRANDE BANDA ATOMIC ROOSTER!! VENENO RARÍSSIMO E ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

Reissue of rare 1971 UK heavy psych rock monster originally released on the RCA label. I don't know why some people like to single this one out to beat up on. It's a good record and the opening song, which nobody ever mentions, is a certified beast. It's not as heavy all the way through as Nightsun, Buffalo, Toad, Jerusalem or something like that but this album has more UK psychedelic influence and feel so it's more mellow and vaired. I love that lead guitar sound!

SÃO GRAVAÇÕES ESQUECIDAS DA BANDA E SÃO SURPREENDENTES BOAS, APESAR DA QUALIDADE UM POUCO BAIXA EM ALGUMAS DELAS!! ALBUM RARÍSSIMO E UM VENENO RECOMENDADO E DIRECIONADO PARA OS FÃS DA BANDA!!

Bad Part Of Town (2008 French pressed UK issue 'Édition Limitée' 13-track digitally remastered CD album, offering a fascinating collection of material which bookends the 'classic' Seeds material from 1966-68; featuring Sky Saxon's early 60s pre-Seeds singles [under his original name of Richard Marsh], which find him cast in an unlikely Bobby Darin-style teen heartthrob setting [although the trademark Saxon nasal whine is already in evidence!], plus, by way of anextreme contrast, the early 70s material from The Seeds, recorded for MGM [1970] and Unlimited Productions [1972] - if you can imagine classic Seeds with slightly more accomplished musicianship and a 'heavier' sound, you're there! These forgotten recordings are surprisingly good, with particular regard to 'Bad Part Of Town' and the manic 'Did He Die'; superbly packaged in a glossy mini LP-style card sleeve with 'vinyl look' disc.

GRUPO ALEMÃO INFLUENCIADO PELO FOLK PSYCH INGLÊS COM UM SOM ACUSTICO E COM PERCUSSÃO, ALÉM DE UMA VOCALISTA CHAMADA MANUELA SCHMITZ CUJO VOCAL É MUITO LEGAL!! É MAIS OU MENOS PARECIDO COM O QUE FAZIAM BANDAS COMO FAIRPORT CONVENTION OU SPRIGUNS!! A MUSICALIDADE É ESTELAR E AS CANÇÕES CANTADAS EM INGLÊS OU ALEMÃO SÃO MUITO BOAS PRA QUEM GOSTA DESSE ESTILO!! TEM ATÉ UM VERSÃO DA MUSICA "JOHN BARLEYCORN" DA BANDA TRAFFIC QUE É UM DOS MELHORES COVERS QUE JÁ OUVI!! QUEM GOSTA DE FOLK ROCK PSICODÉLICO NÃO DEVE PERDER ESSE DISCO QUE É EXTREMAMENTE RARO!!This is an awesome album of progressive folk-rock from German group Gurnemanz!! Very much in the style of UK folk-rock ala Fairport Convention or Spriguns, singer Manuela Schmitz has an amazing voice and could give Sandy Denny a run for the money!! The male vocalist, Lukas W.Scheel, has got a real Fairport-y delivery also!! The musicianship is stellar and the songs, whether sung in English or German, are great!! The version of John Barleycorn is one of the best I've heard!!

REPOST: Sky Sunlight Saxon & Firewall - A Groovy Thing (1986 Rock Psych)

"SKY SAXON" É SINONIMO DE COISA BOA!! POIS ELE NÃO PRODUZIA NENHUM DISCO NOVO DESDE 1978 E AÍ COM A PARCERIA DO EX-STEPPENWOLF "MARS BONFIRE" (COMPOSITOR DO HIT "BORN TO BE WILD") E COM ANTIGOS MEMBROS DA BANDA IRON BUTTERFLY, FORMARAM ESSA BANDA CHAMADA FIREWALL QUE DEBUTOU COM ESTE EXCELENTE ALBUM GRAVADO EM 1986!! ALBUM RARÍSSIMO E RECOMENDADO!!
"Saxon, who had not produced any new albums since 1978, returned on the UK Psycho label in 1984 with Starry Ride, which featured support from Steppenwolf's Mars Bonfire (composer of "Born to Be Wild"), as well as formermembers of Iron Butterfly and Fraternity of Man. The Saxon/Bonfire collaboration reached full fruition in the group Firewall, who debuted with the album A Groovy Thing in 1986 (Destiny's Children features the same songs in a different order). Firewall featured guest appearances from members of such California neo-psychedelic bands as the Dream Syndicate, the Plimsouls, the Droogs, and Yard Trauma, demonstrating Saxon's enduring influence and appeal, particularly among that set of musicians.Lead vocals - Sky Sunlight Saxon
Guitars - Eddie Munoz, Rich Coffee, Dan West, Shelley Ganz

REQUEST: Titus Groan - Titus Groan (1970 UK Progressive Rock)

EXCELENTE BANDA PROGRESSIVA INGLESA E SEU ÚNICO ALBUM!! UMA PENA QUE PRODUZIU SÓ ESTE!! É COISA FINA IRMÃO!! COM SAX, FLAUTA E TECLADOS NA DOSE CERTA E QUE ACRESCENTADOS AOS INSTRUMENTOS TRADICIONAIS NASCEU ESTA OBRA PRIMA!! VENENO DE PRIMEIRA LINHA E DE EFEITO GARANTIDO!!

Although named after the main character of Mervyn Peake's gothic fantasy novel, Titus Groan played music definitely lacking in originality. Since all the tracks are over five minutes long, there is room for elaborate instrumental developments, which almost get exciting, but fall short from their goal. Their early progressive style is laced with large parts for wind, which at times makes for interesting listening, but ultimately the meagre compository skills make the wine too watery. By far the best cut is Hall Of Bright Carvings (title taken from Peake's novel as well), which is versatile and passionate, although at 11'50" inevitably too long. A few spins may be rewarding enough, more of this will probably bore you. Jim Toomey had earlier been in Jon, wrote What Did We Miss for Still Life with Stuart Cowell and was later in The Tourists. He also did some session for for Uriah Heep's Ken Hensley at the end of the '70s.

Few Chicago blues artists have been as intimately involved with the city's blues history as Billy Boy Arnold. One of the first Windy City blues singers actually born in Chicago, Arnold learned harmonica from Sonny Boy Williamson in the late '40s. In October 1977 Arnold recorded this gem of an album with The Groundhogs, produced by Peter Shertser at Pathway Studios in West London.

Possessed - Exploration (1971 UK Hard Prog Psych)

POR FAVOR NÃO CONFUNDAM COM A POSSESSED DOS ANOS 80!! ESSA É BEM MELHOR!! OUTRO CLIMA!! A BANDA FOI FORMADA EM 1969, POR VERNON PEREIRA, QUE ERA UMA FIGURA CHAVE DA CENA MUSICAL WEST MIDLAND ROCK & BLUES, ELE QUE ERA PRIMO DA ESPOSA DE ROBERT PLANT E, APÓS UM PERÍODO TOCANDO AO LADO DO PRÓPRIO PLANT NA "BAND OF JOY", UNIU-SE A MICK REEVES QUE TINHA TOCADO NA BANDA SUGARSTACK COM ALT ATKINS!! PRA QUEM NÃO CONHECE, SUGARSTACK FOI A BANDA QUE DEPOIS VIRIA A EVOLUIR PARA A FAMOSA BANDA JUDAS PRIEST!!

ORIGINALMENTE ESSE DISCO ERA PRA SER LANÇADO POR UMA GRANDE GRAVADORA AINDA EM 1971, MAS A MÁ SORTE E VÁRIOS ACONTECIMENTOS NEGATIVOS SEMPRE ACABAVAM ADIANDO ISSO!! O ÁPICE DA FALTA DE SORTE SE DEU EM 1976 QUANDO UMA TRAGÉDIA SE ABATEU SOBRE O GRUPO!! OS CARAS TAVAM VOLTANDO DE UM SHOW NUMA VAN QUANDO O VEÍCULO BATEU DIRETO NUM CAMINHÃO TANQUE PARADO NA PISTA!! OS TRÊS MEMBROS DA BANDA MORRERAM NA HORA!! O VOCALISTA TERRY DAVIES, 26 ANOS, O GUITARRISTA VERNON PEREIRA, 32 ANOS, E O BAIXISTA MICK REEVES, 27 ANOS!! UMA TRAGÉDIA TOTAL!!
QUANTO AO DISCO, RECENTEMENTE ELE FOI LANÇADO PROFISSIONALMENTE, DEPOIS DE MAIS DE 30 ANOS DE ESPERA, A PARTIR DAS MASTER TAPES ORIGINAIS, OU SEJA, O SOM É EXATAMENTE COMO FOI CONCEBIDO!! ISSO NÃO DEIXA DE TER UM "CERTO CHARME"!! O SOM DOS CARAS ERA UM HARD ROCK PROGRESSIVO COM PITADAS PSICODÉLICAS!! OS APRECIADORES DOS PRIMÓRDIOS DO BLACK SABBATH CERTAMENTE VÃO GOSTAR MUITO!!
This is the story of a band whose tragic legacy could never have been predicted. Possessed were born out the thriving underground West Midlands Rock & Blues scene of the mid to late ‘60’s. This was a scene in which band- leader, Vernon Pereira, had been a key figure. The band were formed in late 1969 when Vernon teamed up (after a spell playing next to Robert Plant in The Band Of Joy) with Mick Reeves, who had been playing in (amongst other bands) Sugarstack with Al Atkins. This was the band that would eventually evolve into being the first incarnation of Judas Priest. Exploration was originally intended for releases in 1971. Due to various reasons the album never saw the light of day. The band were finally on the verge of signing a major deal, when tragedy struck. Whilst returning home from a gig in 1976, the bands van drove into a stationary tanker, taking the lives of three band members. Mastered fom the orignal tapes.

Ralf Nowy - Lucifer’s Dream (1973 German Orchestral Krautrock Fusion)

Middle-Eastern Symphonic Prog Jazz/Krautrock. A true gem of Krautrock, but an under-known album. This eclectic album blends psyche, jazz, folk, symph, blues, pop and Eastern music in a very satisfying way. It is one of my favourite albums.

Odyssey – Setting Forth – (1969 US Hard Psych)

EXCELENTE E RARÍSSIMO VENENO!!

VENENASSO HARD PSICODÉLICO E ÚNICO ALBUM DESSA BANDA AMERICANA QUE TINHA UM VOCAL PODEROSO, TECLADOS MAGISTRAIS ROLANDO FORTE E RIFFS DE GUITARRA FUZZ ROSNANDO FEROZMENTE!! UM DOS ALBUNS MAIS RAROS DA CENA HEAVY PSICODÉLICA AGORA REMASTERIZADO E REEMBALADO EM NOVA ROUPAGEM!! NA ÉPOCA FORAM LANÇADOS APENAS 100 CÓPIAS DO DISCO E É PRATICAMENTE IMPOSSÍVEL DE ENCONTRAR ESSA PEÇA!! UM PETARDO SONORO E UM VENENO ALTÍSSIMAMENTE RECOMENDADO!! NÃO DEVE SER CONSUMIDO COM MODERAÇÃO ALGUMA!! VAI FUNDO!!
Once upon a time, when the music business was more music than business (but only just), there was a band that created a quintessential dose of New York sixties psychedelia, strong harmonic vocals, heavy swirling organ, and fuzz guitar riffs of the greatest ferocity. Finally, their lone album, one of the ten rarest and most sought after US psychedelic albums, is available again: painstakingly remastered, repackaged, and ready for true psych fans to devour. This is truly one of the cornerstones of underground psychedelic music, recorded in 1969, released in an edition of fewer than 100 copies, and impossible to find as it only came in a plain white cardboard sleeve. An album that jumps right out of the speakers at you, from it's opening In-a-gadda-da-vida riffs right to the very end.

REPOST: Garrett Lund - Almost Grown (1975 US Psych West Coast Rock)

UM ALBUM RARO E EXCELENTE DE UMA BANDA DE ROCK AO ESTILO "WEST COAST PSYCHEDELIC" NA LINHA DE BANDAS DE SAN FRANCISCO COMO TRIPSICHORD MUSIC BOX, QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE, KAK, ETC...!! EXCELENTES BALADAS E PSICODELIAS COM VOCAIS EXUBERANTES E UMA PRODUÇÃO SOBERBADE TECLADOS!! RECOMENDO A FAIXA 8 ONDE OS CARAS FAZEM UMA DAS MELHORES VERSÕES QUE JÁ OUVI PARA A MÚSICA DE BOB DYLAN "IT'S ALL OVER NOW, BABY BLUE"!! VENENO ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!! NÃO CONSUMA COM MODERAÇÃO!!
"First reissue (from the mastertape) of this lost West coast monster rarity with the blend of those early S.F. bands like Tripsicord Music Box, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Kak, etc. There is a fantastic songwriting with a cosmic timeless feeling. Garrett's falsetto voice and singing is beyond words and the guitar leaves you crying on the right or wrong day.Garrath Lund was part of the Caretakers, a band which opened before the great psychrock bands of that time. He recorded this album but no label was interested. Releasing it privately it sold with the help of radio promotion 2000 copies in less than two weeks, but still there was no label to release it officially. So after 26 years this finally is the first release.
The album can be compared to the kind of albums of singer-songwriters with a deeper concentration to the music with electric arrangements, far away from other influences and with a time taken to develop, like what John Saint-Field or so did, but here with a west coast direction, and with some attention to some sweet acidic development of the electric guitar, backed by a rock band. The voice goes from normal to higher notes, with emotional calm perspectives with closed eyes. "Serene" has a fine production of keyboards (mellotron and electric piano by Angie Gudino).

Garrett Lund - voice
Jimmy Jerviss - guitar
David Lauser - batteria, percussão
Donnie Ferro - baixo
Glen Ross Cambell (ex Misunderstood) - guitar
Bill Overturf - guitar acustica

SHARKS - First Water (1973 UK Hard Rock)

VOCAL DE STEVE PARSONS ERA PODEROSO, RASGADO E ROUCO QUE LEMBRA MUITO O VOCAL DO ROD STEWART NA ÉPOCA BLUES!! O BAIXO E O PIANO ERA COMANDADO MAGISTRALMENTE POR ANDY FRASE EX-BAIXISTA DA BANDA FREE!! A GUITARRA LIDERADA POR CHRIS SPEDDING!! DISCO RARÍSSIMO E QUE APESAR DE SER CONSIDERADO HARD ROCK FAZIA BALADAS BEM INTERESSANTES!! BOM DISCO E BELO VENENO!!

Sharks was a band formed by ex-Free bass player, Andy Fraser, upon his second (and final) departure from Free, in late 1972. They were signed to Island Records and were that label's Great White Hope for the 1970s. The band was highly rated by critics, especially for Chris Spedding's tasteful guitar work. The initial line-up consisted of Andy Fraser (bass, piano), Snips (vocals), Chris Spedding (guitar) and American, Marty Simon (drums).

At the start of 1973, they embarked on a UK tour and also made an appearance on the BBC TV programme Old Grey Whistle Test. On the 19 February 1973, on the way back to London from a gig in Cleethorpes, the band's car skidded and hit a tree. Fraser suffered injuries to his wrist and, during recuperation, had second thoughts about the band. The tour continued to the end of April but Fraser had some difficulties playing with the injury. Sharks' debut album, First Water, was released in April but Fraser left shortly afterwards and the band began searching for a replacement. Those considered included Tom Robinson, Ric Gretch and Boz Burrell. Mick Jagger then recommended a bass player from Memphis, Busta Cherry Jones, who joined in July 1973, along with ex-Audience keyboard player Nick Judd.

A new UK tour with this line-up began in September 1973 and ran through until March 1974, when their second album, Jab It in Yore Eye, was released. The band then toured America during April & May 1974. On their return to the UK, the band began recording their third album, to be titled Music Breakout. However, Simon was fired and replaced by Stuart Francis and Jones returned to the States. Island didn't like the masters for the third album and the band folded in October 1974, in somewhat acrimonious circumstances. Spedding continued his session work and solo career, whilst Snips joined Ginger Baker in the Baker Gurvitz Army and then went solo. In 1993, Spedding and Snips began recording together again as Sharks, although the album, Like a Black Van Parked on a Dark Curve..., didn't see the light of day until 1995. There was a one-off gig in London, in December 1995, featuring Snips, Spedding, Jackie Badger (bass), Blair Cunningham (drums) and Nick Judd (keyboards) but the band has not re-surfaced since.

Arktis - Arktis (1973-74 German Hard Prog Psych)

MAIS UM DA SÉRIA "GARDEN OF DELIGHTS"!! BANDA ALEMÃ QUE FAZIA UM ROCK PESADO, FREAK, COM ALTAS IMPROVISAÇÕES E LIDERADA PELO BOM VOCAL DA FÊMEA KARIN TOPPIG!! VENENO ALEMÃO RECOMENDADO!!
Those who love lush, majestic sympho-prog will find little, if anything, to enjoy here. But those with a passion for stripped-down, gutsy basement rock will consider the first Arktis album to be a lost masterpiece. An aggressive, rough-edged power trio fronted by an assertive femal vocalist, Arktis showed both sides of their nature on their privately pressed debut. On the first side, they offered three punchy, stripped down hard rock songs, and on the second cut loose with the astounding "Rare Girl" - twenty minutes of high octane rock jamming, mainly instrumental and principally the vehicle for guitarist Klaus Blachut, who cut loose with endless soloing and improvisation, providing a tour de force of progressive, psychedelic and heavy rock guitar styles, running the gamut from Ash Ra Tempel to Hawkwind, Black Sabbath and even Status Quo. The effect is simply breathtaking. For the CD reissue, Penner added three slightly later bonus tracks with more of an early new wave feel - once again, nothing for prog purists, but again great rock, especially on the very catchy "Is It Real?".

Hurdy Gurdy - Hurdy Gurdy (1971 Danish Hard Prog)

PODEROSO POWER TRIO VINDO DA DINAMARCA QUE FAZIA UM HARD ROCK PROGRESSIVO DE ALTA QUALIDADE!! A GUITARRA FURIOSA DE CLAUS BOHLING É O PONTO ALTO DO DISCO QUE PASSEIA COM DESTREZA ENTRE O PROGRESSIVO PESADO, BLUES E JAZZ!! ATÉ SITARA ROLA NA FAIXA QUE É UMA OBRA DA PSICODELIA PROGRESSIVA ORIENTAL!! VENENO DINAMARQUÊS ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

"This trio, formed in the late sixties in Copenhagen as Boom Boom Brothers, later abbreviated their name as B.B.Brothers and made at least one single for Sonet. The group was based in London for a while around 1968-69, where they took up their new name Hurdy Gurdy. Among the musicians they befriended was Donovan, who wrote the song "Hurdy Gurdy Man" for them. The intension was that the Danish group should record the song, but Donovan turned out to enjoy the song so much that he recorded it himself and refused to let them use it! Other Hurdy Gurdy recordings from this period are rumoured, but apart from an excellent single on Spectator ("Tick Tock Man"/"Lend Me Your Wings"), none of them have been released.

Their eponymous album for CBS was recorded with Freddy Hansen in the Rosenberg studio, a place where several legendary albums were conceived. This one ranks among the top 10 Danish albums and comprised blues and jazz influenced heavy progressive rock with strong melodies and competent vocals. The trio had obviously heard the first albums by Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull, but also added an Eastern track with tablas and sitar." - alexgitlin -
