Includes a big insert with lyrics and photos. 500 copies only pressing. DAVID DEL CONTE, DAMON, UM COMPOSITOR AMERICANO E CIGANO, DA CALIFORNIA, E QUE LANÇOU ESSE ALBUM MUITO BOM DE FORMA INDEPENDENTE!! Damon is the artistic name of David Del Conte, a genius American gypsy musician who is responsible for one the rarest and most sought-after psychedelic album of all time. Based in Los Angeles, David Del Conte and Charlie Carey had already pursued careers in popular music for many years before deciding to embrace the underground rock movement. His debut album, Song of a Gypsy, which was originally released in 1969, has a totally unique sound, with the 'crooner-like' voice of Damon, the omnipresent melodic fuzz guitar of Charlie Carey and truly atmospheric melodies. Amazing druggy fuzzed out psychedelic album with exotic atmosphere, eclectic percussion and trippy songs.

Speed Limit 35 - Speed Limit 35 (1970-71 US Psych West Coast Acid Bluesy Rock)

-------

In 1968, Stephen Scott, who had played in bands like Homer & The Don’ts and Ladies WC (see our review of the latter’s wonderful reissue) in his native Venezuela, relocated to South Carolina and joined Speed Limit 35, a band that had built up a loyal following at the nearby University of South Carolina. Having graduated from a local bar band playing Hendrix and Cream covers to the first acid rock band in S.C., they made it all the way to New York City before returning to Columbia, where, according to Scott’s liner notes, “they became more involved in acid and less in rock.” By 1969, the band, now a three piece including Paul Swenson on drums and Bobby Walker on guitar and influenced by Scott’s blues background, began playing at local clubs in the Carolinas. Opening for artists as diverse as Linda Ronstadt, Brownsville Station and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band! In April, 1970, the band scored the opening slot for Steppenwolf at the Columbia Coliseum and that performance is lovingly captured on side A of this reissue.

Opener “Song in ‘A’” has a good-time, Grateful Dead party feel to get the crowd on their feet and “Anthem” features a laidback, bluesy psych vibe. The jammy “Song in ‘E’” demonstrates the band’s considerable chops, eliciting favorable comparisons with mid-flight CSNY, and is liberally seasoned with Walker’s bluesy solos. The band’s sound may actually be closer in spirit to John Kay’s bluesier pre-Steppenwolf band, Sparrow, but nevertheless serves them well in their allotted task of pumping up the kids for the main course.

The success of the gig brought the band to New York where they recorded demos at Mercury Studios, selections of which are presented as the album’s B-side. The two-part, 11½-minute “Shoeshine Man” is a heavy lidded headnodder. Part one combines laid-back acoustic jamming with bluesy guitar runs from Walker, while part two captures the band headed full steam into the stratosphere, highlighted by some wicked harp blowing and tasty guitar runs. “Break My Day” finds the boys in a more acoustic, reflective mood, with some unidentified sax work particularly effective and Scott’s mournful, bluesy wail hitting all the right emotional buttons.

In 1971, the author/director of an Off-Off-Broadway play, Alice (based on Alice in Wonderland) saw the band perform at USC’s Campus Club South and was impressed enough to invite them to write the score for his play. While Scott does not believe the play was ever produced, Swiss label owner Raymond Dumont (who is responsible for this reissue), also bought the rights to their score, so hopefully we’ll be hearing more from Speed Limit 35 before too long.  Until then, sit back and enjoy these boogie boys bleed the blues and marvel at Walker’s screaming solos, which are particularly awe-inspiring. Fans of better-than-competently played bluesy rock (laced with the occasional acid flourish) in the styles of Paul Butterfield, Steve Miller, and Canned Heat as well as collectors of similarly sounding artifacts from the Rockadelic label have cause for celebration at the unearthing of this buried treasure and should place it at the top of their wish list.

Paul "Pablo" Swenson (drums)

Neumeier & Genrich & Schmidt - Psychedelic Monsterjam (2004 German Kraut Hard Prog Acid Psych)

ESSE ALBUM TEM MATERIAL RETIRADO DE DOIS CONCERTOS REALIZADOS EM 2003 COM UMA FORMAÇÃO SUPER ESPECIAL QUE INCLUI O BAIXISTA "DAVE SCHMIDT", EX SULA BASSANA E LIQUID VISIONS, MAIS OS MEMBROS ORIGINAIS DA GURU GURU, "AX GENRICH" NA GUITARRA E "MANI NEUMEIER" NA BATERIA!! É PRATICAMENTE O LINE UP ORIGINAL DA GURU GURU E COM CANÇÕES MUITO PARECIDAS AO QUE A BANDA FAZIA NOS ANOS 70!! O DISCO TEM TRÊS MUSICAS ANTIGAS DA GURU GURU E O RESTO É IMPROVISAÇÃO PURA!! KRAUTROCK HARD PROGRESSIVO PSICODÉLICO E ÁCIDO É A SONORIDADE!! VENENASSO PURO E ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

Simplemente genial. Absolutamente imprescindible. www.mentesdeacido.com

AQUI UMA RESENHA EM INGLÊS:
This CD is taken from two concerts performed in 2003 with Dave Schmidt (Zone Six, Sula Bassana, Ex-Liquid Visions) on bass and original Guru Guru members, Ax Genrich on Guitar and Mani Neumeier on drums. This was the first time that Ax and Mani had played together in 30 years. Dave, who has played in bands that do a lot of improvisation, was ready to play with these guys. The set features three old Guru Guru songs and the rest is completely improvised. The CD begins with "Bong", a good old fashioned 70´s acid jam, and this leads into the really cool "(Do you want to) Boogie in Bombay". This tracks starts with a lot of spaced out sounds and mixed percussion before the real groove develops. Awesome stuff. "Stone In", an old Guru Guru number, is a heavy psychedelic acid guitar freakout! This leads into "Stone Out" and really captures that feeling of the old recordings of Guru Guru from '70-'71. "Moonlight Flight" is a total improvisation and it meanders a bit but the bass line is really cool and solid and gives the others space to go where no one has gone before.

Another Guru Guru track, "Next Time, See you at the Dalai Lhama". I like the way this track develops and Ax really plays some freaky psychedelic guitar. "Rising Sun" is a mellow track with just bass and drums and Mani playing bells. "Electric Junk", the last Guru Guru number and 18 minutes long, is pretty bluesy but slowly develops into a long guitar improv, including some spoken German by Mani. The CD ends with "Mushroom Moon" a laid back space journey. In all you get 80 minutes of pretty cool music totally in the spirit of early 70´s Krautrock. Some people will really dig this and get into while others will think that these guys are just making boring noodling. I think it is really cool stuff and we are lucky that someone recorded this so we could hear the magic when these three great musicians all met. I can´t wait for the next one. They have just done a small tour in Germany and all the gigs were recorded.

AYERS ROCK - Big Red Rock (1974 Australian Jazz Bluesy Rock Fusion)

Taped live in Melbourne over two nights in September 1974, their first album, "Big Red Rock", is made up of rather bluesy, rock-based songs with sax and flute that give it a slight jazzy feel.

Australian band's Ayers Rock debut album was recorded live, but the sound quality is excellent! As it often happens with marginal prog markets, even if this album was recorded in 1974, it sounds more as US band from 1969-70.

The music on this album is mostly slightly psychedelic blues-rock with some jazz-rock elements. Album's opener "Lady Montego" is melodic and energetic song mixing blues rock, sax and CCR influences. Vocals are really strong and have some John Fogherty timbres. "Talkin' 'Bout You" is another bluesy rocker with plenty of sax. The sound could be compared with early "Bad Company" american version with plenty of sax added.

Chris Brown (Electric & Acoustic 12-string Guitars / Lead Vocals)
Col Loughnan (Tenor, baritone, electric soprano saxes / Vocals / Flute / Electric piano / Percussion)
James Doyle (Electric and Acoustic 6-string Guitars / Percussion / Multron guitar)

ERIC QUINCY TATE - Same (1971 US Sounthern Rock Soul Bluesy)

HIGH RARITY!!
BANDA SUPER OBSCURA QUE TINHA COMO DESTAQUE PRINCIPAL A PARTICIPAÇÃO DE DUANE ALLMAN TOCANDO SLIDE GUITAR!! GRAVADO EM 1971 NUMA EDIÇÃO SUPER LIMITADA DE APENAS 500 EXEMPLARES E UM ALBUM CRIMINOSAMENTE ESQUECIDO!! AS 11 PRIMEIRAS FAIXAS FORAM REMASTERIZADAS PELA RHINO RECORDS E SOAM MAIS PROFISSIONAIS!! JÁ AS FAIXAS BONUS SÃO AS GRAVAÇÕES REAIS DA BANDA E TEM UM GROOVE MAIS SOLTO, MAIS INGÊNUO E EXPONTANEO!! ESSE RELANÇAMENTO PÕE JUSTIÇA E AFIRMA ESSA BOA BANDA NA HISTÓRIA DO ROCK SETENTISTA!! VENENO SOUTHERN ROCK BLUESY COM TOQUES DE SOUL ALTAMENTE RARO E RECOMENDADO!!

Eric Quincy Tate is pure swamp pop, mixing up soul, blues, country, and rock & roll into a dynamite concoction of thick, funky roots rock. Limited edition 2006 remastered Rhino Handmade debut CD release (only 5000 copies produced) of 11-track 1971 Cotillion LP plus 7 bonus tracks. Original album produced by Tony Joe White, Jerry Wexler and Tom Dowd. Compilation produced by Mason Williams (of "Classical Gas" fame). Besides EQT band members, the album features session work by The Dixie Flyers, The Memphis Horns, Jim Dickinson, and coproducer White, as well as slide guitar by Duane Allman.

First of all, Eric Quincy Tate was not an individual but rather a blue-eyed R&B outfit playing the club circuit in Texas when they were discovered. This swampy concoction, there first and only studio effort, was recorded at the "Sounds of Memphis" studio in 1971. The cast of characters was absolutely stellar! Three legends share production credit; Tony Joe White, Jerry Wexler and Tom Dowd. The personnel roster boasted the Dixie Fliers(house band for the studio), overdubs by the Memphis Horns and a cameo appearance on slide by none other than Duane Allman. Only the drummer/vocalist and guitarist from the actual band were allowed to play on the LP; which gives the digitally remastered original tracks a tighter, more professional feel than the bonus tracks which feature the "real" band. The "demos" by the real band, which form the last part of the disc, have a looser, more naive and therefore sincere groove. The sound quality throughout is excellent.

All in all, this disc easily qualifies as one of the best 70's releases that you never heard of. The song writing is superior and the instrumental attack is engaging throughout.I strongly recommend it.

Hurriganes - Rock And Roll All Night Long (1973 Finland Hard Blues Rock Boogie)

------------------------------------
Hurriganes is a Finnish rock band that was formed in the early 1970s. They were very popular in Finland in the 1970s and early '80s; they were also a popular live act in Sweden during this time. Their classic line-up consisted of Remu Aaltonen, Albert Järvinen and Cisse Häkkinen. What seems like a misspelling in the name ("Hurriganes" with a "g") is intentional. Their style of music is very much of a nostalgic, pre-Beatles, roots rock'n'roll orientation. During their "classic" period, the band's output consisted largely of revved-up cover versions of well-known 1950s rock'n'roll songs in addition to their own original material. In this sense, Hurriganes can be viewed as Finland's answer to British pub rock performers of the 1970s like Dave Edmunds and Dr. Feelgood.

The founding members were drummer and vocalist Henry "Remu" Aaltonen, bassist Hugo Christer "Cisse" Häkkinen and guitarist Ilkka "Ile" Kallio. Kallio quit in the band in the spring of 1972. the Band was replaced guitarist by Pekka "Albert" Järvinen, and thus became the band's most famous composition. Pekka "Albert" Järvinen (born October 25, 1950 in Lahti, Finland, died March 24, 1991 in London, England) was one of the best Finnish guitarist. He is most well known as a fast-fingered and skilled guitar player of Finnish rock band Hurriganes. He got his stage-name Albert from one of his idols, blues guitarist Albert King. (wikipedia.org)

STRAWBERRY WINDOW - Strawberry Window (1967 US Psych Garage Heavy Rock)

UM BOM VENENO!! SOM CRU, ÁCIDO, PSICODÉLICO, HARD E GARAGEIRO!! GRAVAÇÕES INÉDITAS QUE SOBREVIVERAM CERCA DE 40 ANOS NO ARMÁRIO DE UM DOS COMPONENTES DA BANDA E QUE FORAM SUBMETIDAS A UM METICULOSO E CUIDADOSO TRABALHO DE GRAVAÇÃO PRA ASSEGURAR QUE A INTEGRIDADE DO SOM PERMANECESSEM INTACTAS!! A VERSÃO PARA "TOBACCO ROAD" É BIZARRA!! IMPRESSIONA TAMBÉM A GRANDE QUALIDADE DO SOM ESTÉREO!! VENENO GARAGEIRO RECOMENDADO!!

Strawberry Window hailed from the San Francisco Bay Areas East Bay music scene in the mid 60's and were truly one of the "early birds" and innovators who made their own distinct brand of Rock-N-Roll. They played in a heavy-psychedelic-garage style, sounding somewhat reminiscent of the Jefferson Airplane, (early) Mad River, Buffalo Springfield, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Frumious Bandersnatch. These previously unreleased recordings have survived for the last four decades in a box on a shelf in a band member's closet. Meticulous care and detail has been taken to master these recordings with a fresh, open approach, while ensuring that the sound and integrity of the vintage songs remained intact.

The amazing music of this guitar based quartet ranges from catchy electric folk tunes and "West Coast" garage rock to raw energetic acid jams lasting over 10 minutes. You'll be impressed by the great stereo sound quality throughout their ten original cuts not to mention their freaky cover version of J D Loudermilk's Tobacco Road. It's an out right shame that this talented bunch were not signed to a record deal back then. Then again, that's okay with us because it has allowed World In Sound the opportunity to proudly present for the first time ever, the music of and the history behind this talented group of songwriters and wild performers known as the Strawberry Window.

The Strawberry Window CD and LP releases contains 65 minutes of intense but melodic performances and also comes with a 16 page color booklet that will take you on a trip back to the halcyon days of the Summer of Love. In 1968 they switched guitar players, added a girl singer and changed their name to the Dandelion Wine. They recorded several songs and also released a private pressing of a 4 song 7 inch EP.

ANDY ALEDORT AND THE GROOVE KINGS - Live at North Star (2009 US Blues Rock)

O QUÊ?? ANOS 2000??!! POIS MERECE ESTAR ENTRE OS VENENOS PORQUE É UM DISCO GRAVADO AO VIVO COM MUITA IMPROVISAÇÃO DE HARD BLUES ROCK BEM BACANA!! APESAR DE SER GRAVADO EM 2009 TEM UM CLIMA E UMA SONORIDADE RETRÔ SETENTISTA IMPRESSIONANTE, COM RIFFS PESADOS, CHEIO DE ESTILO E COM UMA INTERAÇÃO FANTÁSTICA DA BANDA!! PARECE TER SIDO GRAVADO NO INÍCIO DOS ANOS 70!! O ALBUM, ALÉM DE MATERIAL PRÓPRIO, INCLUI COVERS DE CLÁSSICOS DO BLUES COM IMPROVISAÇÕES MUITO INTERESSANTES!! NEM TUDO ESTÁ PERDIDO NOS ANOS 2000!! O SONHO (AINDA) NÃO ACABOU!! VENENO BLUES RECOMENDADO!!

THE DREAM IS NOT OVER (YET)!! Excellent Live disc by this accomplished, seasoned "old-school" blues/rock axeslinger from New York who rocks the blues with style, class & authority. Featuring 8 tracks @ 71 minutes of first rate, authentic, retro-70s, blues-based heavy guitar riffage that digs deep on the extended six string jam theory. The man plays his ass off and TONE is his middle name, Aledort is the REAL deal. Along with having played many "Hendrix Tribute" gigs with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles and being a long-time editor @ Guitar World magazine further proves that Andy Aledort is a legit player who knows what time of day it is on the guitar. Highly recommended to people who dig serious Guitar Rock and to fans of Hendrix, Trower, Winter, SRV, Clapton & Bonamassa.

Recorded at one of our regular haunts, the beautiful club/restaurant NORTH STAR located in Pound Ridge, NY, "LIVE AT NORTH STAR 2009" is a great example of the kind of insanity the band and I venture into at every gig. The album includes covers of such classic blues tunes as Freddie King’s “Big Leg Woman,” Ray Charles’ “I Don’t Need No Doctor,” B.B. King’s “Gambler’s Blues,” Albert King’s “Wrapped Up in Love Again,” Albert Collins’ “Bending Like a Willow Tree,” and Little Walter’s “Last Night,” plus two original compositions, “Right by Your Side” and “Do You Have a Sister.”

Ad Infinitum - Ad Infinitum (1998 US Sympho Prog Rock)

BANDA AMERICANA INTERESSANTE E SEU DISCO DOS ANOS 90 MAS BEM RETRÔ!! A SONORIDADE TEM VÁRIAS INFLUÊNCIAS SETENTISTA COMO O PROGRESSIVO, SINFONICO, CLÁSSICO E COM LONGAS SUITES E PASSAGENS!! SOLOS DE TECLADOS VIRTUOSOS, VIOLÃO DE 12 CORDAS, GUITARRAS ELÉTRICAS GRITANDO, TAMBORES E BONS VOCAIS!! DIGAMOS QUE É UM DISCO BOM, AGRADÁVEL, BEM EXECUTADO MAS NADA MUITO ALÉM DISSO!! TRATA-SE DE UM DISCO DIFÍCIL DE CONSEGUIR!! UMA RARIDADE DOS ANOS 90 E TALVEZ UM FUTURO CLÁSSICO??!! TALVEZ!!

Interesting band from the 90's American scene which had researched over 6 years to finally put out their first and unique CD, with several classic prog influences (mainly YES and GENESIS) with long tracks and different moods and passages. Using mostly classic 70's equipment and instruments, AD INFINITUM have created a fresh new take on the classic 70's prog sound. Vintage, virtuoso keyboard textures and solos, warm 12 string acoustic guitars, screaming electric guitar!!

Coloured Balls - Ball Power (1973 Australian Hard Blues "Punk" Rock)

VENENO AUSTRALIANO MUITO LEGAL E FORMADO POR LOBBY LOYDE UM VETERANO ROQUEIRO DA CENA MUSICAL LOCAL!! O CARA JÁ HAVIA TRABALHADO EM BANDAS LENDÁRIAS DO RYTHM BLUES AUSTRALIANO COMO PURPLE HEARTS, WILD CHERRY E BILLY TORPE & THE AZTECS!! NESSA PEREGRINAÇÃO MUSICAL ESTABELECEU UMA REPUTAÇÃO COMO MESTRE DA GUITARRA!! ESSE DISCO POWER BALL FOI UM MOMENTO DECISIVO NA HISTÓRIA DA MUSICA AUSTRALIANA E CONSIDERADO UM DOS MAIORES ALBUNS DE HARD ROCK SETENTISTA MANTENDO QUALIDADE EM PRATICAMENTE TODO O ALBUM!! A SONORIDADE É UM HARD ROCK ACIDO, MEIO PUNK, COM PITADAS BLUES E COM MUITA ENERGIA!! VENENO RECOMENDADO!!

By the time Lobby Loyde formed the Coloured Balls in March 1972, he was already a 12-year veteran of the local music scene. Working his way through R&B legends The Purple Hearts, psychedelic heroes The Wild Cherries and onto the bluesy Aztecs, Loyde had well and truly established his reputation as Australia ’s pre-eminent guitar master.

The overall excellence of 'Ball Power' makes for quality listening all the way through. The songs range from the crunching, melodic hard rock of 'Flash' and 'Hey! What's Your Name' to the simple, raw rock'n'roll of 'Mama Don't Get Me Wrong' and 'Won't You Make Up Your Mind' (a proto-typical punk ball-tearer at a breathtakingly brief one minute and 32 seconds) and a raucous cover of the Jerry Lee Lewis standard 'Whole Lotta Shakin''. In between there are the sleazy blues of 'Something New' and 'B.P.R.' plus progressive, guitar-heavy monsters like 'Human Being' and 'That's What Mama Said'.
