a monster progressive rock and blues-psych that defined the band's sound in the 70's.    This is the first of Offenbach's early "prog-blues-psych-era" recordings (along with "Tabarnac", "Saint-Chrone de Neant" and "Bulldozer").... Inspired by British blues-rock bands such as Cream and Deep Purple, Offenbach’s repertoire initially comprised pop songs of the day, as well as blues-rock and original material. Its first LP, Offenbach Soap Opera (1972) included two songs in English, as well as the early classics “Faut que j'me pousse” and “Câline de blues,” which would come to define the band’s sound. Its second album, Saint-Chrone de néant (1973), was recorded live on 30 November 1972 during the Mass for the Dead at Montréal‘s Saint Joseph's Oratory.

Having been formed in the early 1970s, Kansas Citys JPT Scare Band are still going strong today and this double album reissue of their seminal first 2 albums  (recorded in the early 70s and out of print since the early 90s);  show just how they started with their acid soaked psychedelic brand of rock.
The origin of these songs is shrouded in mystery. Stories abound of the band playing extended sessions in front of an audience of like-minded people only for the results to go missing for decades. Other tales place the band in a basement for a few days, emerging with recordings that frankly scared their contemporaries so much that they didn’t see the light of day until the last decade of the 20th century.

The first four songs on this release were originally released in the early 1990s as Acid Acetate Excursions (almost 20 years after it was originally recorded), while the latter clutch of tunes were put out as Rape of the Titan’s Sirens. Parts of both albums have seen the light of day as compilations, but this is the first time that both have been presented as discrete albums on vinyl.

Terry Swope: Guitar, Vocal
Paul Grigsby: Bass, Vocal
Jeff Littrell: Drums

NEXT - Dusty Shoes (1971 Rare Canadian Hard Rock)

HIGHT RARITY!!

VENENO CANADENSE ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!! VENENASSO!!

Winnipeg's Next were an offshoot of regional heroes The Fifth. After a fairly successful run of singles in Canada, The Fifth split in 1970 with several members of the band defecting to other acts in the region. One such product of the split was Next. The band were quickly able to secure a contract with Warner Brothers and by late 1971, "Dusty Shoes" was released. With somewhat limited exposure and very poor distribution, the album sank without a trace and Next were history by the end of 1973. Members would later turn up in The Guess Who, Harlequin and The Litter.

"Dusty Shoes" is very much typical of the era from which it sprang. Overall, it's tastefully arranged organ/guitar driven pseudo hard rock that recalls Grand Funk Railroad quite a bit in places. With the soulfully gritty vocals of George Belanger, everything here has an edge which makes much of the material here sound harder than it actually is. That subtle dynamic is what carries most of this album and makes it a truly satisfying listen. Check out this obscure offering from Next, contributed by Orchman. Dig it...
