Jerusalém foi um dos primeiros grupos de Heavy Rock britânica que surgiu lá bem no início dos anos 70. A banda teve seu disco liberado pra comercialização em 1972 e, como falei anteriormente, foi produzido por Ian Gillan do Deep Purple. A banda é pesada e fazia realmente um Hard Rock muito à frente do seu tempo, mas há quem diga que os caras eram feras mesmo em shows aio vivo. Aí que dizem que eles mostravam toda a sua força. Pena que tenha registros de seus shows em vídeo, aliás isso foi um problema de várias bandas boas da época que acabaram não tendo nada de material em vídeo. A gente fica só imaginando como eram os caras ao vivo.

A banda Jerusalem dividiu o palco em alguns shows pela Europa com bandas conhecidas como Bçack Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep e Stato Quo. Também participou de vários festivais pela Europa fazendo muito sucesso. Os caras levantavam literalmente a platéia, pois tinham um som cru e poderoso e isso era realmente o diferencia da Jerusalem. A energia dos shows ao vivo.

Parece que Jerusalém ainda continua a crescer como uma banda cult em todo o Mundo, e as notícias mais recentes, ainda de 2007, é que Paul Dean, um dos fundadores da banda, revelou que ele tem o original de duas musicas inéditas da Jerusalem que não saíram no álbum original. Diz que o cara tem procurado alguma gravadora que esteja interessada em regravar o álbum original com a inclusão dessa faixa extra. Parece que ainda não conseguiu pois ainda não se ficou sabendo de nada. Se tivesse dado certo certamente já saberíamos.

Jerusalem was an early 1970s British raunchy heavy rock five piece outfit. The band released one self-titled album worldwide in 1972 on Deram (UK catalogue number : SLD 6), produced by Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. Jerusalem’s only other release was a 45 rpm 7 inch single, the non-album ‘Kamikaze Moth’ backed with ‘Frustration’ from the LP.

Ian Gillan's thoughts about the band & working with the album:
This is the first album by Jerusalem, a band which excites me very much; they are rough, raw and doomy with their own strong identity. As they are young and a bit green, they don't follow many rules, so their material is almost crude - but still immensely powerful in content. I believe that, whenever possible, the work of writers and players in their formative stages should be recorded; before inhibition and self-consciousness set in, before fire and aggression die down, and while they are still absorbing influences and doing things which others might consider 'uncool'. Most important though, before they might develop that self-imposed rigidity which afflicts so many. I hope none of these things happen to Jerusalem, we'll have to wait and see, this album is just in case. I hope you like it as much as I do."
