STONEGROUND - Stoneground (1971 US Rock West Coast Psych)

BANDA AMERICANA HIPPIE COM GRANDE DESTAQUE PARA VOZ E O VIOLÃO A CARGO DO EX-BEAU BRUMMELS "SAL VALENTINO"!! A BANDA NO INÍCIO ERA UM POWER TRIO, MAS DEPOIS JUNTOU-SE OUTROS COMPONENTES PARA GRAVAR ESSE DISCO DE ESTRÉIA, QUANDO TEVE QUATRO CANTORAS E NÃO MENOS DO QUE SEIS VOCALISTAS DIFERENTES NAS DEZ FAIXAS DO ALBUM!! AS CANÇÕES SE REVEZAM NUMA SONORIDADE BLUES ROCK, RYTHM BLUES, BALADAS PODEROSAS E UMA TENDÊNCIA WEST COAST HIPPIE COM GUIATARRAS FUZZ, BEM TÍPICO DAS BANDAS CALIFORNIANAS DOS ANOS 70!! BOM E RECOMENDADO VENENO!!The self-titled debut from the East Bay groovers Stoneground is a solid effort blending accomplished straight-ahead rock & roll with a distinct bluesy vibe similar to many of the group's San Fran contemporaries. The band's revolving-door personnel centered on a Concord, CA, trio featuring Luther Bildt (guitar), Tim Barnes (guitar), and Mike Mau (drums). Through Bay Area music mogul Tom Donohue, the trio hooked up with former Beau Brummels leader Sal Valentino (vocals). In turn, John Blakely (guitar/bass) arrived via Donohue, and by the time that both Valentino and Blakely had settled in, Stoneground was also sporting a quartet of female vocalists. While Annie Sampson, Lydia Phillips, and Deirdre LaPorte were virtually unknown, Lynne Hughes had been in a seminal version of Dan Hicks' Hot Licks as well as in the short-lived Tongue and Groove. The band continued to expand when it toured England in the Medicine Ball Caravan (1970) tour, picking up future Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna member Pete Sears (keyboards) in the process. With occasional help from former Mystery Trend member Ron Nagle (keyboards/percussion/inspiration), the sprawling combo that would contribute to Stoneground (1971) was intact. Part of the band's quaintly indefinable sound can be attributed to the inclusion of more than half a dozen different lead vocalists on the album's ten tracks. While Valentino supplied a majority of the originals, the disc is highlighted by some truly exemplary cover tunes as well. These include a gospel-rock reading of Rev. Gary Davis' "Great Change Since I Have Been Born" and the refined East Bay funk rendition of the Kinks' "Rainy Day in June," as well as the slide guitar blues of John D. Loudermilk's "Bad News." Arguably, best of all is the rousing "Don't Waste My Time," which shows off the full force of Stoneground's cohesiveness. The power ballad "Brand New Start" is masterfully driven by the gospel inflections of Sampson. The Valentino compositions -- "Looking for You," the quirky "Added Attraction (Come and See Me)," and "Stroke Stand" (which is notable for an ensemble vocal) -- bear repeated listens and hint at this group's truly great potential. ~ Lindsay Planer, All Music Guide

DEVIDO A ESSAS PIRATARIAS OS MEMBROS ORIGINAIS DA BANDA FIZERAM UMA CAMAPNHA PARA A REEDIÇAÕ DO ALBUM EM CD!! EXCELENTE VENENO ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO PELA RARIDADE E PELO SOM!!

The Story:
In the Spring of 1968 the Mary Butterworth band was formed. They enjoyed playing a variety of engagements around the Southern California area and in 1969, the recorded the one and only album entitled Mary Butterworth. This original, vinyl album was pre-sold to fans and friends only-- it was never available to the general public. Shortly thereafter, the group split up and never performed together again.

Years passed and rumors spread that Mary Butterworth had made it big. However, that was not the case. What did happen was that one of those original vinyl albums made it into the hands of "bootleggers" in another country. They thought enough of the music to reissued the album, and they began a sales campaign of their own. It didn't stop there. The Butterworth album has been bootlegged at least three other times in two different countries.

The bootlegging has created a Mary Butterworth following and pushed the price of the original vinyl album to over $1,000.00 per vinyl album. The Psychedelic Rock Music of the '60's is still regarded, even today, as some of the greatest live music ever created -- and Mary Butterworth will be a lasting part of that history. This CD also includes many photos of the group. The CD, like the original vinyl album, is bound to be a collector's item. Now you can find out why.

PETER GREEN E SUA FLEETWOOD MAC EM SEU PRIMEIRO E EXCELENTE ALBUM AGORA COM BONUS TRACKS E REMASTERIZADO NO JAPÃO!! ESSENCIALMENTE BLUES DA GEMA, BLUES FEITO POR GENTE QUE ENTENDE DO RAMO!! FOI UM DOS PRIMEIROS DISCO EM VINIL QUE COMPREI E TENHO POR ELE UM VALOR INESTIMÁVEL!! EU CONSIDERO ESTE ALBUM DISCOTECA BÁSICA PRA QUALQUER BLUESEIRO ENVENENADO QUE SE PREZE!! ESTE VENENO É UM FRASCO BÁSICO!! SE LIGA NA HARMONICA DA FAIXA "LONG GREY MARE" E "LOOKING FOR SOMEBODY"!! QUE PATAÇO NA NUCA!! ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

Nele, figuram sucessos como Dreams, Go On Your Way e The Chain. Até 2003, Rumours vendeu mais de 19 milhões de cópias somente nos Estados Unidos e um total de 30 milhões de cópias pelo mundo, tornando-o um dos mais vendidos de todos os tempos.

Posteriormente a esse grande sucesso, Mick Fleetwood e Lindsey Buckingham lançaram LP’s individuais em 1982: ” The Visitor “, e ” Law And Order “, respectivamente.

Although the Oxford Circle are remembered by hardcore psychedelic collectors as a San Francisco psychedelic band due to their shows on the city's ballroom circuit in 1966 and 1967, they actually formed in Davis, about an hour to the east. The group played energetic garage-psychedelia that was heavily derivative of British bands such as the Yardbirds and Them, and managed to release just one single, "Foolish Woman"/"Mind Destruction," for the tiny World United label. The flipside was a feedback-drenched piece of raw psychedelia, but it would not be appropriate to place the Oxford Circle in such rarefied air as unheralded Northern California psychedelic legends like the Great Society or even the Final Solution. The group's original material was unexceptional, owing more to punkish blues-rock than groundbreaking psychedelic sounds.

Drummer Paul Whaley joined Blue Cheer, which sowed the seeds of the Oxford Circle's breakup, though oddly enough, future blues star Joe Louis Walker played with the group briefly. Gary Lee Yoder, the Oxford Circle's principal songwriter, formed Kak (which recorded for Epic) and also showed up in a late version of Blue Cheer. An entire 1966 concert, in surprisingly excellent fidelity, formed the basis for an Oxford Circle CD in 1997 that also included their single and a couple of unissued cuts. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide.

Fourteen of the 18 tracks on this disc were recorded live in San Francisco in 1966, in fidelity that was good even by the standards of 1997. As such, it's a godsend for psychedelia fans, as the band released only two official tracks, which were themselves hard to find on reissue. That said, the music doesn't quite live up to the legend, though one can see that it was sufficiently exciting for live audiences of the era. It's split fairly evenly between British Invasion covers of groups like the Yardbirds, Them and the Animals, and group originals in a similar style. Though there are flashes ofmore… psychedelic mayhem in the guitar work particularly, it isn't as weird as the B-side "Mind Destruction" (a largely formless instrumental built around feedback) might have led collectors to expect, and the original tunes aren't so memorable. The set is embellished by both sides of the "Foolish Woman"/"Mind Destruction" single, as well as a couple of unreleased studio tracks from 1967 that have sessionman Mac Rebennack (aka Dr. John) on organ.

FELIZMENTE, GRAÇAS MAIS UMA VEZ AO SELO GARDEN OF DELIGHTS, O DISCO FOI RELANÇADO EM CD A PARTIR DAS MASTER TAPES ORIGINAIS E AINDA POR CIMA CORRIGINDO UM PROBLEMA QUE HAVIA COM O LP QUE NA ÉPOCA HAVIA SIDO LANÇADO COM O SOM UM POUCO BAIXO PARA OS PADRÕES NORMAIS!!

They were formed from the former band Opossum, founded in 1971.
"Rabenteuer” is an all-instrumental jazz-rock album with lots of saxophone and bits of flute, similar in style to early KRAAN with perhaps a nod or two to MISSUS BEASTLY. Being partly improvised, the music has an almost ‘live’ feel to it; it is warm and features great guitar riffing as well as strong melodies. The CD version comprises a bonus track, a terrific 20-minute jam session salvaged from the master tapes. The band’s more recent album "For a Second”, released in 2002, may sound a bit laid-back in comparison but is still redolent of the old MORPHEUS charm, with plenty of trippy sax and catchy hooks.

Weed - Weed (1971 German Acid Hard Rock)

BANDA DE "KEN HENSLEY", O MESMO CARA DA BANDA URIAH HEEP, E AINDA COM PARTICIPAÇÃO DE MEMBROS DA BANDA VIRUS!! OS CARAS FAZIAM UM SOM ACIDO COM UM INSTRUMENTAL MUITO BACANA!! UM HARD ROCK COM PITADAS BLUES E PROGRESSIVAS COM DUAS GUITARRAS ROSNANDO E UM PODEROSO ORGAN HAMMOND!! PELO NOME DA BANDA JÁ DÁ PRA VER QUE OS CARAS ERAM "MALUCOS" MESMO!! WEED!! TRADUZINDO: ERVA - FUMO!! NA CAPA UMA "COROA" FEIA SE DELICIANDO E OFERECENDO A "ERVA DANINHA"!! VENENO ALEMÃO RECOMENDADO!!
WEED: 1971 Philips 6305 096 This album related to an infamous rock'n'roll habit ! Unfortunately the album sleeve didn't list the line-up, but it seems likely that Ken Hensley (vocals, organ, slide guitar) of Uriah Heep fame had a leading role. He recorded the Weed album during March 1971 in between the Uriah Heep albums "Salisbury" and "Look at yourself". Some members of the 1970/71 Virus line-up were also involved, Bernd Hohmann and Werner Monka at least and possibly their rhythm section as well. All six tracks were credited to concert promoter Bobo Albes and Philips household producer Rainer Goltermann made sure the sessions in the Windrose Studios were preserved for posterity. The album comprised straight-forward heavy progressive blues rock with twin guitars and organ to the fore, culminating in the excellent, long instrumental title track. Weed can be compared to other German heavy progsters of the era, such as Zarathustra, Blackwater park, Epitaph and Armaggedon, as well as Ken Hensley's similarly obscure "Head Machine" album "Orgasm" dating from 1969 or 1970. The sleeve of the Weed album is quite noteworthy - a somewhat disgusting, middle-aged house wife is pictured, offering some "weed" of an unknown nature! A fine album, but very rare and accordingly high priced at the collector's market."

Bernd Hohmann - flute

Grateful Dead - Live at Fillmore Auditorium on 1966-07-16

EXCELENTE DISCO COM UMA DAS GRAVAÇÕES MAIS ANTIGAS DA BANDA GRATEFUL DEAD QUE SE TEM CONHECIMENTO!! É GRATEFUL DEAD NO INÍCIO, NA INFÂNCIA TOCANDO NO FILLMORE EM SAN FRANCISCO NO VERÃO DE 1966!! MUITO LEGAL MESMO!! VALE A PENA OUVIR OS CARAS CANTANDO "BIG BOSS MAN", "NOBODY'S FAULT BUT MINE" E OUTRAS CANÇÕES NUM CLIMA MEIO JUVENIL!! VENENO DEAD RECOMENDADO PELA HISTÓRIA, RARIDADE E PELO SOM!! O AUDIO TAMBÉM É ÓTIMO!! ACHO QUE ESSE É UM DOCUMENTO HISTÓRICA DA BANDA E MERECE ESTAR ENTRE OS VENENOS!!
I THINK THAT THIS IS A HISTORICAL DOCUMENT OF BAND!! RECOMMENDED BY HISTORY, BY THE RARITY AND THE SOUND! THE AUDIO IS GREAT!!
Let’s go way back in time for the earliest Dead recording yet to be seen here – The Grateful Dead in their infancy at the Filmore in San Fran in the summer of 66'. This is pure, early Dead, still filled with the influences of Bluegrass, Jug Music, and Americana. These influences would later be blended into the ether with Rock and Roll, Psychedelia, Classic Rock, and 80's short shorts. This summer set consists of mostly early covers and traditional numbers only featuring one Dead original, ‘Cream Puff War’. While part of Boss Man and Dancin’ are cut, this is a pristine recording – both the download and the stream. Groovy.

Elfenbein "Made in Rock" CD reissue. These were an obscure 70's Anglo-American styled hard-rock band, and in fact possibly one of the straightest you'11 find .Really, their song-based kind of boogie rockin' style draws comparison to many an ex-Man band, like The Neutrons or Judas Jump. ROUPAGEM DIFERENTE EM ALGUNS CLÁSSICOS DA BANDA!! BEM LEGAL!! EXCELENTE E RECOMENDADO BOOTLEG!! VENENASSO STONIANO DO BOM E RECOMENDADO!!Get Your Leeds Lungs Out! - Revisited is a crystal clear bootleg from the U.K. leg of the Sticky Fingers tour back in 1971, and has been digitally remastered from the original analog master tapes. The Stones are inspired throughout, so the whole show is one big highlight, starting with the smooth country of "Dead Flowers." Also included is a fiercely swinging take of the Jagger-attitude testimony, "Bitch," a slower and more spacious "Satisfaction," and a version of "Brown Sugar" that is no less sleazy and lustful than the original. Keith Richards and Mick Taylor show why many Stones enthusiasts considered this lineup their best, as the duo spin and weave their guitar lines together and trade off solos with each other throughout the show. Also included are sidemen Bobby Keys (saxophone), Jim Price (trumpet), and Nicky Hopkins (piano), who help augment the compositions. "Let It Rock" is a forgotten Stones cover of a Chuck Berry song (it was only issued as a B-side to "Brown Sugar" and has never been included on any of their compilations) that turns out to be a good old rowdy rave-up. The problem with Get Your Leeds Lungs Out! is that it contains a total of six songs that were issued (in quite similar versions) on the official live album Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out just two years prior. And there are two versions of "Let It Rock" included, one being a supposedly different "stereo version"; in reality, they are identical. Still, the Stones were hot that night. If the overly produced and studio-enhanced Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out leaves you feeling a bit cold, hunt down a copy of the rough and rocking Get Your Leeds Lungs Out! - Revisited to cure your blues. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide

REPOST: Message - From Books and Dreams (1973 German Prog Hard Rock)

ÓTIMA ALEMÃ QUE FAZIA UM SOM QUE PODERIA SER DEFINIDO COMO PROGRESSIVE HARD ROCK COM PITADAS PSICODÉLICAS!! ESTE É O SEGUNDO ÁLBUM DA BANDA E BEM MAIS OBSCURO QUE O PRIMEIRO QUE ESTÁ LOGO ABAIXO NA POSTAGEM ANTERIOR!! ABAIXO ESTÁ O REVIEW DE TODAS AS FAIXAS QUE FOI FEITA POR ALGUM ANÔNIMO NA NET, MAS QUE RETRATA FIELMENTE O QUE É O DISCO!! EXCELENTE E RECOMENDADO VENENO!!
A half-British, half-German affair (the same line-up that would record the eponymous masterpiece Message), From Books and Dreams is a dark, hard-rocking psychedelic album. The production makes for a very spacy, dirty and blurry atmosphere that serves the album well. I recommend listening to this album in the evening (preferably an autumn evening), light up a few candles, unplug the phone, sit back, lie down or whatever, and listen...

1 - Sleep : Not really a song, more of an introduction. A feeling of intense, wrenching vertigo, similar to the moment before falling into subconsciousness and the dream realm, is well depicted here. Blurry, psychedelic, a perfect mood setter.

2 - Dreams and Nightmares (Dreams) - One of the two very high points (personnaly I can't find any weak points) of this album. Starts where Sleep left off, with an hypnotic guitar theme, repeated for a while (the German influence, I guess) and built up until a riff change and vocals kick in. Now, some may not like Tom McGuigan's voice, I know I really love it. Not always on tone, he more than makes up for it with intensity and theatricality. Alan Murdoch shines all through the song, with amazing hard-rocking catchy riffs and a main theme that will be stuck in your head for days, months, maybe years. The rythm section, not as creative as on the eponymous album, is nonetheless very tight and enjoyable to listen to. A great support for Murdoch's riffs. Lyrically, the song dabbles in the nonsense of dreams (as does the whole album), therefore do not expect lyrics to make much sense, all the while still making sense (as dreams do). The song segues into :

3 - Turn Over! : A dark, psychedelic guitar pattern graces the song, serving as background to Tom McGuigan's saxophone wailing. This closed side one of the vinyl, as the words 'Turn Over' are repeated quite a few times at the end of the song, when the needle reaches the end of the lp (this trick was also used by Ange on Le Cimetière des Arlequins, and probably by countless others in that period).

4 - Sigh : Another psychedelic rocking number, but less dark than anything on side one. The majority of the chords are happy sounding, but that doesn't make the song less interesting. Once again, Murdoch's guitar lines are the focus of the song, and McGuigan's vocal melodies are also very interesting.

5 - Dreams and Nightmares (Nightmares) : The other high point of the album. The inclusion of keyboards makes for a haunting effect. Catchy dark riffs all the way through, interesting chord progressions... a great track. This is my second Message album, and even though it is a bit less progressive than the eponymous, it is nonetheless an amazing album. Might not be a masterpiece, but it is damn close to being one. 4.5 stars. A shame these guys did not get the recognition they deserved at that time.

VENENO ALEMÃO ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!
Reissue of classic 1972 progressive rock album featuring German and British musicians. German progressive / psych band's first (out of seven) album - originally released in 1972. until recently, I was vaguely even aware of this group. Tunes here that make this CD a keeper are the eight-minute title track "The Dawn Anew Is Coming" {liked the several changes in tempo and mood}, the quite 1972-ish jamming & well-played "When I'm Home" and "Heaven Knows". Personnel: Billy Tabbert - guitar & vocals, Allan Freeman - synthesizer & vocals, Allan Murdoch - guitar, Horst Stachelhaus - bass, Tom McGuigan - mellotron, woodwinds & vocals and Gunther Klinger - drums. Might appeal to (I'm second guessing) fans of Quatermass, Nektar or possibly Nosferatu.
