SIXPENCE ERA UMA BANDA AMERICANA CUJO DISCO É MUITO DISPUTADO POR COLECIONADORES, PRINCIPALMENTE POR FÃS DA BANDA STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK, VISTO QUE SIXPENCE DEPOIS EVOLUIU PARA A STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK!! ESSA ENTÃO É A BANDA PRÉ-STRAWBERRY!! UMA JÓIA RARA E UM PRESENTE AOS ENVENENADOS!!

Mas antes deles mudarem o nome para Strawberry Alarm Clock, ainda com o nome de Thee Sixpence, eles lançaram alguns singles em 1966-1967 no rótulo minúsculo chamado All-American!! Estes singles realmente  foram acima da média, embora sejam sons típicos das bandas de garagem de Los Angeles, uma garagem beirando a psicodelia, soando perto do que faziam  a mesma época bandas como Chocolate Watch Band, The Seeds e Standells!! 

O álbum inclui musicas gravadas entre os anos de 1966 e 1967, captando toda a coleção de gravações da Thee Sixpence, incluindo a versão original de "Incense and Peppermints" que depois ficaria famosa com a banda Strawberry Alarm Clock, que como falei anteriormente, foi uma evolução dessa banda aqui!! Aliás pessoal, não é só a musica Incense and Peppermints que depois veio a fazer mais sucesso com a Strawberry Alarm Clock, pois mais duas musicas daqui mais tarde entraram em praticamente todas as coletâneas da Strawberry!! São Elas: The Birdman of Alkatrash e  The World's On Fire!! Todas elas originalmente foram gravadas pela Sixpence!!

Thee Sixpence are most noted by collectors as the group that, with some lineup changes, evolved into Strawberry Alarm Clock. Before that, they issued some singles in 1966-1967 on the tiny All-American label. These were above-average, though not outstanding songs in the typical raw, foreboding Los Angeles garage-verging-on-psychedelia mode, sounding close in respects to better-produced efforts during the same era by the Chocolate Watch Band, the Seeds and the Standells. Step By Step captures the entire collection of recordings by Thee Sixpence, including the original version of "Incense and Peppermints" (pre-Strawberry Alarm Clock).
