EXCELENTE BANDA DE ROCK PROGRESSIVO ALEMÃO FORMADA LÁ NO INÍCIO DOS ANOS 70 E QUE SÓ PRODUZIU UM ALBUM MUITO LEGAL, NUM ESTILO QUE DARIA PRA DEFINIR COMO UM HEAVY BLUES JAZZ PROG!! NUMA COMPARAÇÃO, EU DIRIA QUE SE ASSEMELHA MUITO COM A BANDA COLOSSEUM, PRINCIPALMENTE SE LEVARMOS EM CONTA O USO CONSTANTE DE SAXOFONE!! E QUE SAX!! UM SAX PESADO, RASGANTE E ISSO COMBINADO COM GUITARRA ELETRICA E FLAUTA, FAZEM DO SOM DA ARDO DOMBEC VERDADEIRAMENTE GENIAL!! AS SESSÕES INSTRUMENTAIS DOS CARAS SÃO UMA OBRA!! VENENO ALEMÃO ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!
Ardo Dombec were in the category of early 70s German underground bands. They differ from other folk-blues-fusion-hard rock bands of the same era by the presence of omnipresent visceral saxophone arrangements that remain pretty structured, sometimes reminding the Dutch fusion band Solution. The drums and bass are often very fast, rhythmic and complex, flirting with fusion elements, and reminding the early Camel without the keyboards. Many flute parts a la Jethro Tull, Focus and even Camel add some interesting variety; the track with the very pleasant visceral harmonica exhibition also shows how versatile the members can be. The music is quite addictive, disciplined and structured. Some catchy tracks, combined with the typical lead vocals, can even slightly remind the listener a sophisticated Elvis Presley! The opener "Spectaculum" and the closer "Unchangeable Things?!" are both full of energy and quirky sax-riffs. And "108" is a very nice and atmospheric instrumental, consisting of flute and acoustic guitar only. "Clean-Up Sunday" is definitely a highlight, featuring lots of Tull-ish flute, complete with chord-changes and several good riffs and melodies. (Review from progarchives.com)
