Uma das primeiras (e considerada por muitos "a melhor") banda de rock progressivo da Noruega. Sua música é uma mistura de um pesado hard-rock combinado com claras influências de prog-sinfônico, que não apareceu até o seu terceiro e último álbum de estúdio "Janus" lançado em 1973. Esse primeiro album da banda mostra a essência crua dos músicos em seus improvisos. A banda assinou um contrato com a Polydor na "Dinamarca" para se lançar no mercado em 1970 e moveu-se gradualmente para o rock progressivo depois do segundo álbum. O grupo foi extinto em 1973, mas se reuniu para vários concertos após 1978 e sua última apresentação foi em 2006.
O álbum auto intitulado Aunt Mary(Polydor/1970)pode ser considerado como um dos primeiros (e possivelmente o melhor produto do rock progressivo da Noruega). Onze faixas apresentam uma mescla interessante de psicodelia,blues e jazz com algumas tendências progressivas,cada faixa tem melodias memoráveis,com curtos mas doces solos para os ouvídos. Os teclados trabalham bem legal e essa formula de rock progressivo oreintado por teclados mais tarde seria usado também por alguns dos melhores grupos noruegueses.

One of the early and by many considered to be one of Norways definitely best prog bands. Their music is a mix of heavy hard-rocking tunes, combined with clear influences from the symphonic genre. The more symphonic sound however didn't appeared until their third, and last studio album, "Janus". A great concept-album to start with. If you want the more thundering sounds coming from AUNT MARY, look for 1972s "Loaded". High-skilled musicians combined with good, creative melodies makes AUNT MARY a important Norwegian band to become acquainted with.

Self-titled" album from the norvegian band Aunt Mary may be considered as one of the first (and, possibly, the best) progressive rock product from this country. Eleven tracks present an interesting mixture of psychedelic, blues and jazz with some prog tendencies.
