DIGAMOS QUE AQUI ESTÁ UM LP DIFÍCIL DE SE ENCONTRAR NA INTERNET, MAS QUE, PROCURANDO BEM, AINDA SE ENCONTRA ALGUNS EXEMPLARES EM LOJAS ESPECIALIZADAS!!! É O NONO ÁLBUM LANÇADO PELA BANDA E O ÚNICO TOTALMENTE AO VIVO!!! GRAVADO NA LENDÁRIA CASA NOTURNA "QUIET NIGHT", EM CHICAGO, QUE HOJE NEM EXISTE MAIS, MAS A MEMÓRIA ESTÁ BEM VIVA NESSA GRAVAÇÃO!!!

AQUI TEMOS UMA COLEÇÃO INCOMUM, POIS 5 DAS 8 CANÇÕES DO ÁLBUM NÃO APARECERAM EM NENHUM ÁLBUM ANTERIOR DA BANDA!!! AINDA TEM ALGUNS COVERS BEM INTERESSANTES COM VERSÕES MATADORAS!!! AS DUAS MÚSICAS QUE VINHAM DO ÁLBUM "SLEEPY HOLLOW" FICARAM AINDA MELHORES COM O CLIMA AO VIVO, ARRANJOS MAIS LONGOS E INSTRUMENTAIS BEM MAIS TRABALHADOS!!! -----------------------------

LET'S SAY THAT HERE IS A DIFFICULT LP TO BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET, BUT THAT, LOOKING FOR WELL, YOU CAN STILL FIND SOME IN SPECIALIZED STORES !!! IT'S THE NINTH ALBUM RELEASED BY THE BAND AND THE ONLY TOTALLY LIVE !!! RECORDED IN THE LEGENDARY NIGHT HOUSE "QUIET NIGHT" IN CHICAGO, WHICH NO MORE EXISTES TODAY, BUT THE MEMORY IS WELL LIVE IN THIS RECORDING !!!

HERE WE HAVE AN UNUSUAL COLLECTION, BECAUSE 5 OF THE 8 ALBUM SONGS DID NOT APPEAR IN ANY PREVIOUS ALBUM OF THE BAND !!! STILL HAS SOME WELL INTERESTING COVERS WITH KILLING VERSIONS !!! THE TWO SONGS THAT COME FROM THE "SLEEPY HOLLOW" ALBUM WERE BETTER WITH THE LIVE CLIMATE, LONGER AND INSTRUMENTAL ARRANGEMENTS WELL MORE WORKED !!! "WET COAST BLUES", UNPRECISED UNTIL THEN, LOOKS LIKE A ROOT BLUES PRESENTED IN SMOKED BASEMENTS !!! THE CURIOSITY OF THIS ALBUM IS THAT NO MUSIC FROM "953 WEST" IS INCLUDED IN IT, THAT WAS THE CURRENT ALBUM OF THE BAND AT THE TIME !!! HERE IS AN ALBUM FULL OF "NEWS", UNLIMITED AND CURIOSITIES !!! ALMOST A "B SIDE" OF THE BAND !!! RARE POISON AND RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE WHO LIKE STYLE !!!

The Last Summer is their only completely live album. It was recorded at the legendary Quiet Night in Chicago. They had a regular Tuesday night spot there. The Quiet Night has been gone for over 30 years now, but the memory lives on in this recording. The Siegel-Schwall Band was an American electric blues band from Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1964 by Corky Siegel (harmonica and piano) and Jim Schwall (guitar). Corky and Jim met each other when both were music students at Roosevelt University. Corky was originally a saxophonist interested in blues and Jim’s background was mostly in country music. They combined these two genres producing a lighter sounding blues. The Siegel-Schwall Band recorded five albums for the Wooden Nickel label in the early 1970s.

Although 953 West didn’t break any new creative ground, its innately bluesy undercurrents didn’t turn off any of the band’s faithful, either. Live: The Last Summer was recorded during the summer of 1973; comprised of performances from The Brewery in Lansing, Michigan and at The Quiet Knight, it was released in early 1974. It’s an unusual collection in that five of the album’s eight songs didn’t appear on any of the band’s previous albums, including a pair of new original tunes by the band’s namesakes along with a couple of high-octane covers. The band’s take on the B.B. King classic “Rock Me Baby” smolders just short of flashpoint and offers plenty of Jim Schwall’s stinging fretwork.

A pair of songs from Sleepy Hollow – “You Don’t Love Me Like That” and “Hey, Billie Jean” – benefit greatly from the live setting, allowing the band to stretch out the arrangements and show off their instrumental skills. They return to the Jimmy Reed songbook for the guitarist’s “Sun Is Shining,” delivering the song in as straight a manner as possible, i.e. old school blues with an energetic rhythm track, crackling piano-play, and wiry guitar. A new song by Schwall, “West Coast Blues,” is a mid-tempo blues tune that sounds like late night in a smoky bar while Siegel’s “Out-A-Gas?” is a driving rocker delivered with reckless abandon. Oddly enough, Live: The Last Summer doesn’t include any songs from 953 West, which was the band’s current album at the time.
