REPOST: ROCK ISLAND - Rock Island (1970 US Rock Prog Blues Psych)

MAIS QUALIDADE AO VENENO!!!

RARIDADE NA ÁREA!! BANDA DE CHICAGO E QUE FAZIA UM SOM COMPOSTO DE ALGUNS INGREDIENTES DO ROCK PSYCH DO INÍCIO DOS ANOS 70 COM FUSÕES ACID ROCK E TOQUES DE BLUES, FOLK E PROGRESSIVO!! UM BOM TRABALHO DE GUITARRA, BOM ORGAN JAZZISTICO/BLUES E HARMONIZAÇÃO VOCAL!! OS CARAS CHEGARAM A ABRIR SHOWS DO SMALL FACES!!!

REPOST IN FLAC FORMAT TO GIVE MORE QUALITY TO THE VENENO!!!
RARITY!! BAND OF CHICAGO THAT MAKED A SOUND COMPOSED OF SOME INGREDIENTS OF THE ROCK PSYCH FROM THE EARLY 70'S WITH ACID ROCK FUSIONS AND BLUE, FOLK AND PROGRESSIVE TOUCHES!! A GOOD GUITAR JOB, GOOD ORGAN JAZZISTICO / BLUES AND VOCAL HARMONIZATION!! THE GUYS CAME TO OPEN SMALL FACES SHOWS !!! GREAT VENENO AND AN EXTREMELY RARE ALBUM!!

The band started recording at A&R Studios in New York City and made multiple trips to New York to record a few songs each trip. The single Hard and Never Easy was released at the same time as the album and was successful in the mid-west and some areas of Europe. When the band was at their peak musically and rehearsed to perfection, the Kent State University massacre took place, where four students were killed and nine wounded after being fired upon by the Ohio National Guard. This event caused many universities and colleges to cancel their summer concerts, hence cancelling many of Rock Island's concerts and leaving the band ready and willing to perform but with no available venues to play. Over the next few months the band, having no clear plans, started having internal problems and eventually one of the members left, then another.

Rock Island guitarist Mike Kennedy would later form a quintet called Horsepower who recorded an LP in the UK with Chas Chandler from The Animals producing. Unfortunately the album was never released, but there was a 45 issued called 'Outrageous'. It received good reviews in the UK press, but by the time it was released the group were back in the U.S. A further song from the sessions appeared on the 'Metal For Muthas II' compilation LP, which led to the long held assumption among many fans that Horepower were a British NWoBHM band. There were a few other releases from Horsepower who kept going right into the 1990s, these were on cassette however, and sometimes went under the name 'Mike Kennedy & Horsepower'. Unfortunately Kennedy passed away some years ago, so an official rerelease of Horsepower's output may now be impossible.
