GOLD - Mission Rock [1971 USA Hard Psych Blues Rock]

BANDA AMERICANA FORMADA EM 1967 EM SAN FRANCISCO QUE COMEÇOU COMO UMA BANDA DE GARAGEM!! FOI DISSOLVIDA EM 1973!! MISSION ROCK FOI GRAVADO AO VIVO EM 1971 NA RÁDIO KSAN DE SAN FRANCISCO, COM EXCELENTE QUALIDADE DE ÁUDIO E SIMILAR AO ESTÚDIO!!

ELES LENTAMENTE SE DESENVOLVERAM E EM 1971 ERA UMAS DAS BANDAS MAIS QUENTES DE SAN FRANCISCO, MAS AINDA SEM NENHUM LP!! O DESEMPENHO CHAMOU A ATENÇÃO DO PRODUTOR BILL GRAHAM QUE CONTRATOU OS CARAS PARA ABRIR UM SHOW NO FILLMORE WEST PAR MIKE BLOOFIELD!!

MAIS TARDE, NESSE MESMO ANO, ELES ABRIRAM SHOWS EM WINTERLAND PARA TEN YEARS AFTER, BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY E HOT TUNA!! VALE LEMBRAR QUE NO ANO ANTERIOR ELES APARECERAM EM UM SHOW DA BIG BROTHER E FULL TILT BOOGIE COM JANIS JOPLIN NOS VOCAIS DAS DUAS BANDAS EM UMA FESTA DOS HELL'S ANGELS, EMN SAN RAFAEL!!

GOLD CONTAVA COM DOIS CANTORES NOTÁVEIS, ROBIN SINCLAIR, QUE ANTERIORMENTE ERA VOCALISTA NA BANDA "SALOOM-SINCLAIR", E BOB GOLDE, O MESMO QUE INTERPRETOU "BERGER" NA PRODUÇÃO DE CHICAGO PARA O FILME "HAIR"!!

O BATERISTA, ROY GARCIA, ANTERIORMENTE ARA DA BANDA "FOX"!! MAS COM TUDO ISSO, ÁLBUM NÃO FOI PRODUZIDO NA ÉPOCA!! SOMENTE 32 ANOS DEPOIS É QUE FOI PRODUZIDO E LANÇADO O TÃO ESPERADO ÁLBUM QUE GRAHAM LUTOU TANTO!!

QUANTO A SONORIDADE É UM MATERIAL COM GUITARRAS POTENTES, UMA PODEROSA SEÇÃO DE RITMOS LATINOS, PERCUSSÃO MARCANTE, VOCAIS FORTES, BLUES, ACID ROCK E TOQUES SUTIS DO FUNK, SOUL MUSIC E REPRESENTA UMA PERFORMANCE IMPRESSIONANTE, PRINCIPALMENTE A PARTE INSTRUMENTAL!!

A BANDA ERA NITIDAMENTE INLFLUENCIADA POR BANDAS COMO "QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE", "SANTANA" E "BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY"!! VENENO ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO!!

Mission Rock was recorded live in San Francisco 1971 (excellent studio sound quality) -- music ranges in the early Quicksilver/Santana/Big Brother & The Holding Company style -- (68 minutes) unreleased material! Gold in 1971 was one of the hottest bands in S.F. still without an LP. Bill Graham was booking the band to open shows for Ten Years After, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Mike Bloomfield....., with the hope and the support for an LP release.

Now finally after 32 years here is the album Graham would have liked to hear. Country Joe McDonald took a personal interest in the band and worked with them on a number of projects ö on this CD he wrote 2 of the 13 songs, which he had never performed with Country Joe & the Fish. The very talented guitarists Ed Scott/ Joe Bajza remind often to 'John Cipollina' founded Gold in 1967/68.

Gold vocalist on Mission Rock Robin Sinclair was of the same cut of female singer of the time in the style of a 'Janis Joplin' -- an experienced professional who had recorded two LP's on Cadet Concept/Chess as part of a group called Saloom -- Sinclair and the Mother Bear. The music itself is very powerful in rhythm section with congas, two acid jamming guitars and vocals a la Janis that make this CD to an absolute must for all Hippie and S.F. Sound fans. Contains bio, great photos and underground S.F. posters. The CD was produced with friendly support of Country Joe McDonald. (from label bio)

Gold started out as a San Francisco and Daly CIty garage band. They slowly developed into a top notch performing group that caught the attention of Bill Graham. Bill had them appear at an audition night then hired them to open a Fillmore-West show for Mike Bloomfield. Later that same year they opened shows at Winterland for Ten Years After, Big Brother and the Holding Company and Hot Tuna. The year before they appeared on a show with Loose Gravel and Mike Wilhelm, Big Brother and Full Tilt Boogie with Janis Joplin singing with both bands at a Hell's Angels party in San Rafael.

Gold acquired the services of two outstanding singers - Robin Sinclair previously with Saloom-Sinclair and Bob Golden who played Berger in the Chicago production of HAIR. The band also featured outstanding guitar work from Joe Bajza and founder Ed Scott. along with controversial bassist Chico Moncada. Former Fox drummer Roy Garcia added much to the Gold Sound.

Que discaço!
Esse sim é um veneno do rock daqueles. Grupo nada deve aos medalhões do hard-psych-blues.
E salvo engano, a cantora é a voz principal em quase todas faixas. Ela detona.
